Hey guys. Just bought a new 200B from a friend of a friend. Pretty sweet find: '77 IRS model with near mint condition red interior, cream exterior with white/grey vinyl roof in good condition except for the usual rust in the bonnet and a few little stone chips that have started to rust. Suspension, diff and brakes are all R30 Skyline.

It's just one a month permit atm while I get a few little things fixed like the speedo, crank-case vent pipe, rusty bonnet and the headlights, but as soon as that's all done and she's registered I have a pair of solexes and a 240K 5-speed ready to go on it. I'm told the head has been ported a bit and has a slightly more aggressive cam than standard but with the stock carb it doesn't make much difference.

Goal for when I have some dosh saved up: really good respray, probably black, with red GT stripes. Rims, I'm thinking black superlites.

Nice car Bernard. The only black 200Bs I have seen have been of the rattle can variety so yours could be pretty unique if you do it nicely. Let me know if you need any help getting it ready for rego, I might even have some of the bits you need.

Nice ride you got there.... I owned an identical one once but had to let it go.

Finally have an update guys.

Car is with the panel beater as we speak. Doors have all been basically cut in half horizontally and the bottom halves rebuilt from scratch in thicker steel (drain slots were rusty as sh*t). Quarters are being cut and welded soon. Pics soon to come. The guy who's doing it is one of the best panel beaters in melbourne, he really knows his sh*t.

I realise not many people spend this kind of cash on a 200B, but at least that means I'll be one of the proud few with a really nice one :)

Also, after much pissing about, I decided on a paint scheme I am 100% sure of. Gun metal grey/graphite (you know the really dark grey with little silver sparkles) with black GT stripes.

Opperation pimp the hell out of my datto by christmas is a go.

EDIT:
Here's some pictures:

File comment: Cut an inspection hole in the front passenger door. Rusty bits all the way up to that black trim. Door was cut in half just above that.

File comment: After the rebuild of the 2 passenger doors. They have been rust treated, primed and painted in 2pak just too keep it all nice till re-spray time.

Nice 200b. I believe a '77 200 is a good investment for the future when most of them have been crushed. Can't wait to see the finished product

Hey guys, more rust repair pics. The rear left quarter had an ugly patch near the mud guard that had been badly bogged before. angle grinder, rust killer and fresh metal will solve that little problem :)

Yeah, they all rust in the same bits. Guess its a good thing, lots of advice out there on how best to do certain bits... also crap because every bloody bonnet and boot lid on the plannet is rusty as hell.

You can get lucky I did. I have seen a few clean 200bs with good bonnets.
