Looking good mate. Any reason behind the choice in the sunny switch?

Well it was a toss up between that and a 200b, and I stumbled across the sunny combi in the depths of the DS bowels  ... Kinda like the sunny now though, purely because it has more of a period touch with the pull down levers not the twist knobs....

haha this was mentioned on pg 2? definately a bit freaky...!

had a massive entry but lost it on the stupid computer

so a quick update...! Will go into more depth once I get onto a more reliable computer...!

Moved onto some more projects because my wiring is %85 finished.

Started the fuel tank with a mate, Notched it for clearance around the towers and will be marking out for spare wheel clearance which will also get notched. It will be a no bullshit design with a surge tank protruding the boot floor which will feed an 044 directly to the inlet fuel line. Should be good for around 60lt's

Started on my exhaust, It was cheaper for me to go 304 stainless the whole way through to the muffler and I will be tigging every join, pretty crazy really..anyway so I tacked the first section up. Because its my own car I have pushed the boundaries with clearance because I can alway's fix a knock! One thing I hate is road dragging exhausts. Tucked it as close as I could to the gearbox and got a nice clean shot through the gearbox crossmember, The only problem I had was the v-band is the lowest point of the exhaust so I have to make a skid plate for it so it doesnt catch. Will also be putting in a flexi join just after the v-band.

Also started looking for a muffler, saw these out of Japan and fell in love (only want one though) Couldnt find anything that came close here so it was off to the drawing board. Time to make my own, First thing Ive found was these handrail ends which were 100mm od which is what the muffler will be, I had to open up the I.d to 76mm on the lathe so I could fit the inlet and outlet pipe. Will update more when I get more of it together... I'm hoping to have it take away a "little" bit of the bark

If you put the v-band forward more (up the firewall) it would give you more clearance and wouldnt get hit.
Like your work still.

I would have if i could Nick :( , bit hard to see how tight it is tucked up next to the g/box, v-band is bout 20mm overall bigger in diameter, and accessing it there was also going to be a problem...

I actually aquired them from a mate who had a nice connection to one of the fitters at the coke factory, They are actually used to hold hydraulic lines would you believe

Ok so its been a while, I have actually been quiet busy but have made some more progress with the exhaust.

I got over the idea of the v/band idea on the front pipe so I decided to go the old slip joint with tension springs, as per race spec. It gave me another 15mm of height from what I had before. Its nice and snug now.
[ img ]

Started welding up the centre section and mounted it to the g/box mount.
[ img ]

And onto now the rear section which got a bit tricky. Ill post more photo's up of the connector pipe through the rear x-member once finished. It is mounted with 4 cotton reel mounts diagonally opposed at each side. With a v-band on the rear side and a slip joint on the front side. It means that there is no chance of the exhaust rattling through the x-member.
[ img ]

Also got the rear section tucked up next to the diff, It took a couple of goe's but I finally got there... Scraped every last mm once again.

And last but not least I have made the collector for the 2 mufflers... After 6 hours I finally got somewhere with it!
