what sort of car do you have? then you can search for a wiring diagram that may give you the breakdown on each coloured wire.

According to one of my books there are two green/white cables that go to "knob illumination lamp on SSS models only".

There is also two cables 1x green/white and 1x Black that go to the "adjustment control illumination" pot.

The only solid green cables in that area i could find go from the turn signal flasher unit to the blue junction block connector, or from the hazards sw connector to the blue junction block connector...

There should be a complete wiring diagram in the back of the workshop manual. are you trying to install a sss dash?? why did you cut the wires? and are you just trying to rejoin the wires that you cut?

The black wire from the dash connecor goes to earth on the body with a lug and also connects back to the battery -'ve via the green junction block connector.
The other two black wires in your last attachment could possibly all join together in that case as quite a few things have this 'negative' cable going to it e.g. glove box light sw, cig lighter and wiper switch etc .

The second pic has me stumped atm...

ok so one of the two black wires goes to the back of the dash to the clock im just assuming its an earth so then that leaves the two black wires to go together would the green green/white wire just splice into the two black wires id assume it would

Likely to be an earth issue. Re-check (or even re-make) the earth connection on the bumper.
