G'day to all Iam an ex 1200 coupe and sedan owner (excellent little cars ) and have just purchased an old 1600 rally car thought I might join up and hopefully get some info to help rebuild the old girl (rust repair panels will be first ) its a 4 door with 10/70 australian compliance ,I cant find a datsun plate on it, body number is P510-6297 and the latest cams sticker on the roll cage is 1997 I would like to try and find out some history of the car ( would the light car club be a good start? ) the car has yellow front and blue boot with a red diagonal slash over the roof and through the doors (I am a computer ham fist and am not sure how to add a photo or even if that is possible ) the engine is L16 still, gear box ? but it looks standard, standard looking diff ( CIG locker ) and suspension with rear discs and hydraulic handbrake any info about local gurus would be appreciated.

I think I remember that car. the yellow & blue one. haven't seen it in a long time. try the contacts at http://www.rallywa.com/
or go to the next WA event and ask around.
they are a good group of people, I'm sure some of the guys and girls will remember some details.

If it has a CAMs sticker on the rollcage, sounds like it was logbooked and ideally you would want the logbook with it to be legal for CAMS speed events (rally, circuit racing). The logbook would have also given you an insight to the history of the car and what have you.
Back that early they didn't give you a registration number with the rollcage, so unless you know the owner or previous rego number it was logbooked under, would be real hard to get a re-issued logbook for it.
If you're just planning on doing club level events (khana's etc) that don't require a rollcage, then there's no need to have the logbook.
