what gauges?
boost, oil pressure, water temp, fuel, tacho, speedo.

using the jdm triple vent heater thing would be a good idea, but lacks the visual attention like you said. im def gonna put the oil pressure gauge in centre cup of dash fascia. fj pumps are sh*t and mine needs to monitored constantly seeing as its just been machined.

the cops always used to give me grief in my previous 1600 about having my boost gauge mounted to the a pillar, resting on dash pad. it was tucked away nice n neat in the corner, but sure enough, every rbt or speeding fine some comment would be made about having gauges above dash. so might stay away from that idea this time.

plus another annoying set back is that the old style gauges like smiths/stewart warner, dont make boost gauges in those series. would look shocking with a nice set of chrome bezel gauges and one autometer hanging off the side

I was thinking like this, but sunk lower into the dash angled up to the driver, more "cut in" to the dash than sticking up and out. but you get the idea... hopefully

think of the guages sitting down where the clock is rather than above it.

Guys.. letting you know... the full set of autometer gauges and a SSS dash to install into I am no longer using in my rebuild.

If anyone is interested... all brand new in boxes!

Cheers

Has anyone here heard of these gauges?

http://www.speedhut.com/gauge_products- ... er_GPS.htm

I am thinking of buying the 260km GPS one. Very reasonably priced with some good features (0-100, 1/4mile time etc) and GPS is suppose to be very accurate with speed. Dont think I need the 300km one, cars pretty quick but wouldnt like to be in a Datsun 1600 at over 250km/h.

I love the Smiths gauges, the black ones with the chrome bezel, but they dont do a matching boost gauge(and are quite expensive). The Speco ones are pretty bland, and same with most of the VDO gauges (they do have some nice gauges but are expensive for a full set, eg oil press, oil temp, water temp boost, tacho, and speedo. Dont like the plain black ones with black bezel.)

Any thoughts on these?

Never heard of speedhut, but damn the GPS is a good idea. I'd be concerned driving through a tunnel though :D
The 260km/h one looks like it has the best graduations (it has common Aus speed limits such as 60, 80 etc.)

I might give these ago. Some of the guys on other forums are using them and reckon there decent. Im in Perth and we only have one tunnel (its small and they are not allowed cameras in there) so should be good for what I want. Also Im running series 5 turbo rotary engine/box and saves me the hassle of finding electronic sensor to fit instead of speedo cable and also have to run wires to g/box etc. No calibration this way and simple install.

Cheers

Would be very handy for those (me included) that run different diff ratios. Rather than re calibrating my speedo all the time it will just do it for me hmmm. As far as tunnels go it's no big deal. Just go the speed limit before you enter the tunnel and stick to those revs inside the tunnel.
