Not sure if this info is common knowledge, but couldn't find any mention of it in the archives so thought I'd post this up.
I've found the R31 pintara sway bar to be an exact fit in my '77 200B. This gives a nice little upgrade from the standard 20mm bar to 23mm, and there's no issues with clearance when running an L series engine.
I used the 200B d-rubber brackets with no issues.

Apparently the R31 skyline item is thicker again, can anyone confirm this?

I did not know that.

How much of a difference does it make? Or have you not driven it yet?

Haven't driven it yet, the car is a couple of weeks away from being registered.
Although 3mm difference probably doesn't sound like much, the bar certainly looks and feels a lot 'chunkier'.
I also note that Maddat offer an upgraded swaybar for SR20 into 200B conversions which is 22mm in diam.
I will let you know how it handles on the road, but I reckon these things are probably worth next to nothing from the wreckers, so even a small improvement could be considered good bang for buck.
On top of that it is literally a 5 minute job to change one.

If you're in vic, you can have my old 200B sway bar when I've done this conversion. If that bolts up, then the R31 pintara swaybar will fit.

I just remembered i have my old S12 swaybars in the shed, I'll have to see if they fit, probably very similar.

Thanks for that info. Can anyone confirm the diam. of local R31 Skyline bars?

I can confirm that this makes a noticeable difference on its own, and a hell of a difference when conbined with stiffer lowered springs. Even running 185/75 14's all round, stock rear suspension, and a subtle lowering of 1" down on standard at the front, the car feels very 'firm' through the bends with a dramatic reduction in body roll.
In stock trim this car really did handle like a mid size barge, and felt very loose through the bends.
This is how the car sits now:

I'm happy with the all round stance, and as it appears the stock rear coils have sagged over the years I will simply match their height with stiffer items.
This combined with some wider/lower profile rubber should see her sitting and handling at a level I'm happy with for a daily driver.

Yeah, The IRS models had terrible springs and shocks for some reason and they all seem to sag like that. Fortunately, it's quite an easy fix. Though not many people seem to know this and every IRS 200B I've ever seen has had this problem.

Yeh was also wondering if the R31 skyline sway bar is the same as the R31 pintara ? :?

As far as I can tell, it should be. They share exactly the same chassis. Best way to tell is to go to a wreckers, pull a sway bar off a Pintara and a Skyline and see for yourself.

To answer your question, Nope it wont fit.

The shackles are different shape and use different bushes, I looked into using 200B shackles when i couldn't find the square bushes for my Datsport swaybar.
