Pulled it out in to sunshine and gave it a quick rinse down to check for leaks on all the new seals... and wash off 12 months of dust.

little bits and pieces
rear seat base needs to be restitched.. whole lot needs a good clean. maybe even a re-trim...
bought some material for the parcel shelf. some MDF from Bunnings, threw a couple of speakers in.
cut up some boards for the boot too. trimmed them up in the same material.

to begin with, nothing spesh. couple of 6" Clarions I scored from work and an el-cheapo JVC deck. I basically got a cheap setup so I could get the wiring in place for it all.
it's been nice listening to the radio while working on the car

when the car is engineered/registered (more important than spending $$ on stereo stuff atm), I'll get a deck that has a USB outlet on it so I don't need to worry about CD's anymore. That's a prerequisite. And after having company cars
with subs in the rear shelf, I would like the same, that great quality sound makes a difference, love my music. Might get some advice on what's best...
maybe 6x9's, a small sub on the rear shelf, or under seat one. rather not go the box in the boot. keep it functional. possibly look in to front speakers...

I ran 6x9's only in my old 1600. That was plenty fine with lots of bass. With the speakers under the fuel tank like that it acts like its own speaker box and you'll have lots of bass coming out of them with a good amp or head unit anyway and you'll also have lots of midrange. This will be amplified by the speakers firing into the windscreen, which will then direct it towards the front (think of concert halls and how directional sound waves can be). Think of the volume of the Car itself when determining bass for the music too. I probably wouldn't run a sub (or at least just a small one) You'd be fine with a 10" or even 8" sub for the boot in some corner (so not to take up room). Seen it done in the middle hole of the rear parcel shelf also. which looked good, however depends on what you want your bass response to be like. Ie, what type of music you want to listen to. How loud you want to crank it. Having the sub in the rear shelf firing directly upwards into the rear windscreen, which will then direct it straight at your head is going to play havoc for the other frequency responses in your music. And if there is only going to be two people in the car, might as well just have the rear speakers then add some small speakers up front or some tweeters close to ear level as possible (or at least aiming at the driver and passenger) for that added high range.

i've been driving some cars at work recently, Kia Optima/Suzuki Kizashi and they have this little 6" sub on the rear shelf, and I have to say i'm impressed.. enough to take the stress out of the smaller speakers but give some decent bass. the Kizashi comes with a Rockford Fosgate speaker system, very nice setup..

i did notice sitting in the back seat how LOUD the little 6"ers bounced off the rear screen in to you ears.. no chance talking to the rear passengers, they won't hear you!

LOL.. i love that front shot of the rig being washed, with the wife in the background saying ''thank **** thats over'' haha.

looks tuff mate. simple and clean but tuff.

any chance you could post up a front on shot of the engine bay? keen to get a datsport rad, just wanna see it installed in the flesh first.
