Replace them with clear fuel resistant tubing.
Arrange the hoses exactly as the factory did.
One of them at least should be clipped up high to a metal tab underneath the rear parcel shelf.

Could very well be.
Mine is a '71 and the pipes are held up by a small metal tab.
This elevation of the pipes allows the fuel and vapour to separate properly and either drain back into the tank or be vented to the atmosphere respectively, via the hose that exits the boot into the rear chassis rail.
A very agricultural system but quite effective if everything is in good order.

I know this is an old post, but discusses what I need except for confirmation on hose ID size.

Can anyone confirm it's 6mm ID hose (clear, fuel resistant etc) required for a stock 510/610 setup?

Keen to get rid of the fuel smell.

The hose that goes between the tank and the T piece is a larger diameter than the two other hoses by the looks.
If you are building this from scratch, just get the hose diameter that suits the tank and an aftermarket T piece :)

I might have another look when I've got time to pull the cover off that hides the tank on my 610, as I don't recall it having 2 different size hoses in that area.

Not sure if they are different to a 510. I did put a set of verniers on the metal 180 degree bend that is on the smaller hose (could get my verniers in there) and it measured 6mm OD, so I'd guess a 6mm ID hose would suit most of it.

I'll update the post once I've taken a good look, but if anyone has anymore info feel free to chime in, rather just order it.

im in the process of replacing all this now, all my hoses where 6mm except that little one you can see in the RHS of the pic that has been blocked off. i have 2 questions

1/ what is the purpose of this hose? i would think vent but theres already a large vent on the drivers side
2/ what is the purpose of the little hose thats blocked off in the RHS of the above pics?

cheers

You can use the setup from a 180B too if you know of any to grab the parts from.
I used the 180B breather/vapour hoses and they worked well.

Post up lengths and sizes once you're done/purchased> I need to do this on mine too. And chase down the fuel smell in my car. Such a pain.

hey ross, i just coppied the orginal set up, i reused the metal bends/T piece and just replaced the hose, my set up is a little differant to nicks pic so i assume theres a few set ups, mine is the same principal just loops around again, dont know why.

nissanman was correct theres 3 sizes i just took my metal bits in and they matched it, also they recomended i use pvc pipe(the clear stuff) same as OEM spec as its fuel friendly,

mine could even be from a 180b who knows

Thanks mate, I overhauled mine the other day and made new clips up to hold the lines in place.
I didn't end up replacing the hoses as they were all ok (bit hard but not cracked that I can see). hope you didn't just go to your local bunnings and get clear vinyl tube though? That stuff Isn't fuel resistant.
Mine was alright but I still haven't been able to eliminate the fuel smell. The return of my fuel to the main tank from the surge was causing my main tank to froth a bit and that was adding to the smell coming out the breather, so I added a charcoal canister to the boot and ran the vent line through that, then ran the exit of the canister through the boot floor to the chassis rail. But its still got a big of a smell coming through (although it did half it). I wonder if the O ring with the sender is busted? All other fittings are tight and new, no leaks anywhere. Such a pain, but its an old car, what can you do.
