Hello fellow Datsun fans. My name is Terry. I have decided after many years of wanting to buy a Datsun 200B project. My former wife Always stopped me. Now single I'm going to purchase one. It will be a budget build though. I'm hoping to use the knowledge in these forums to help my build.

Hi everyone, :D

I'm currently budget building a Datsun 1600 to compete in Improved Production Vic 1.6-2.0l class in 2017.

Previously I raced a 1200 coupe (Steve Newing's old car) powered by an A series 1568cc in <1600cc sports sedans. That was a good little car, I wish I'd never sold it. Then had a few outings in an FJ20 powered Alfa 105 GTam styled 2l Sports Sedan. Due to having 3 kids and moving house a few times in the last few years, racing has been on the back burner. Now I'm finally in a better position to get back out there.

The engine is an Fj20de running Autronic smc with itbs, Eddy Woods HSD ported head, 4-1 extractors, cams, high comp forged pistons, H-beam rods, a light weight balanced & polished crank and a big baffled trap door sump.
It's backed up by a power train technologies Low MOI light weight flywheel, 5.5" multi plate clutch and a 280zx gearbox.

Basically I'm pulling all the drive train, fuel system, electrics & RX-7 front calipers out of my old Alfa and dropping it all in a CAMS caged 1600 rolling shell. The Alfa will eventually receive a Nord or twin spark engine, Alfa box and be all happy and Alfa-ry again.

Thanks to the great info I've found on this forum, I've learned about turning the front cross member around and swapping the mounts to accommodate the FJ and I think I've got some idea of where to start with a suspension base setting for spring rates, bars, shocks etc.
The car has adjustable LCAs and castor bars already, disk brake rear and a few other handy bits and pieces. I'll probably go for some Verada disks on the front to combine with the RX-7 calipers..... unless I can stuff 3000GT discs in the rx calipers?

I'm still trying to get my head around a good budget friendly diff set up, but will post that in another section and hopefully you guys can help me out with suggestions

Also still deciding on what 15" wheels to run.

So that's my Newbie intro, I'm happy to be here.

Cheers,
Sam.

Hi All, just wanted to say hi, just purchase a series 2 910 Bluebird, has taken me a few years to find one in my budget, it was a one owner, you know the one that you dream about, old bloke, car about to run out of pensioner rego and i was johnny on the spot. The car has some issues that you would expect and am working on them at the moment , have been trying to get one for a while as I owned a series one 910 for about 9 years in my younger ages and also first car was a 1966 datsun 1000 2 door wagon, so been a datsun/nissan guy from way back.

Thanks for adding me to the forum

Regards Norm
