There's a guy here in Ballarat who has put carbies on an LS1 5.7litre V8... i just dont get it... why put an inferior means of petrol delivery on a hi-tech motor? I have heard of someone putting webbers on an SR20, but again, i just dont get it....

Why - Because you can... or don't want to go to the cost of computers, efi fuel pumps and regulators and all that cr@p. On a newer car I owuldn't think it'd amke a lot of sense.

If you can find a manifold to fit the webbers you'll be laughing, piece of cake... but what are you going to do for spark ? The SR20 doesn't come with a dizzy does it ?

Why you need a dizzy for? and yes they do come dizzy,

Webbers would work from on a NA, a NA is dizzy anyways, DET has a CAS, but it will work with either

haha dont need a dizzy .... i found a DIY job that might do the trick
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... rm=KEYWORD
and if you make a face plate that bolts to the head and one to the carbie/s i recon it may work

I have never really completely understood the 'because you can' justification. I *can* jam a broomstick in my backside and stick pictures on the internet - I don't because that would be an inferior option to *not* doing it.

The cost justification doesn't hold water either. By the time you have reconditioned two webers and found/manufactured a manifold you are looking at way more money than the factory fuel delivery.

To me, it's like putting a wooden wheel from a horse and cart on a drift car.

It limited when it snaps at 9k from a rocker arm smashing to bits

couple things to consider if you bolted the carbies to a face plate and straight to the head is will the carbies get to hot
secondly is it goin to have enough length between carbies and valves for the flow to pulsate properly

either get a manifold or just go efi

well what i have found is to go with efi you need a money tree with the carbies you can tune
them from home instead of going to a dyno $$$$$
an with the carbies being bolted is not an issue i just need to design a manifold

Why do you need tuning? Run the factory computer and loom, the factory already did the hard work,

Something needs to make it spark and without a Dizzy you need to buy a computer. If you've bought a computer to drive the ignition, then it reall is a little pointless unless you already own the webers and manifold. Even the NA SR20's are still ECU controlled aren't they ?
I might be speaking out of my arsk as I'm not familiar with this CAS ?

The Jaycar programmable ignition is no good for you, only has a single ignition driver so not suitable for running a set of coils even in wasted spark config.
Will work as an interceptor on an existing ignition system. Check out the 'Electrical' subsection of the forum.

A set of 45's are going to struggle to get 2L to 9k, if you really want it to go that hard you might have to look at 48's.

Well, it depends on the competition. A carby SR20 would probably take the gold medal if you are racing Formula Fail.
