hey fellow datsun lovers

this is my 82 stanza shes a bit rough but drives like a dream (but loud at the moment). not much to it mat black (police magnet) interior is fair good will post more pics when its day time.

basics are ported head 40 tho over bore flat top pistons lumpy cam and bluebird 5 speed with H duty clutch.
it had twin sides but the guy took them at sale. i thought i got a bargain considering it was 600 bux and a sub.

future plans are to replace the rocker cover gasket i blew -_- give her a decent coat of paint ( thinking bright 2 pak white or sky blue) rebuild maby dont no yet. im going to stay L20 i like the old feel. at the moment my main issue is getting a custom tail shaft because the bluebird box so 250 bux down the shitter but all for fun

few pics give me some hints on how to make her look sexy( have 15 inch trx wheels just need tyres)

how to make her look sexy...

well the white/blue spray will help a lot. You cant go wrong with some classic kidney bean mags. a slight lowering and maybe tint the windows?

Ignore modern mags as they ruin it, excessive lowering ruins it, stupidly loud exhaust ruins it.

Looks like a beast though in the matt black, i love the contrasting rocker cover too :)

I had a 200B sedan once that looked just like yours...except in the shape of a 200B. Love the rat-look.

As DattoA10 said, no big blingy rims, etc, if you have a decent body with nice paint, pretty good bumpers, add a set of mags, and some nice wheels, and you have an amazing looking car.

Good luck with the build. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal!

I think you'd be better off finding a 5 speed gearbox to suit your current tailshaft (if you have one), and sell the bluey one. I find the bluebird 5 speeds have really weird ratios, and personally I prefer my 4 speed box over the bluebird 5 speed, because it has good ratios.

And yeah, if you want it to look nice, some nice, shiny paint, shiny bumpers, and shiny 14/15 inch rims will do the trick.

Oh, and you can get rocker cover gaskets from repco, autoranch, or supercheap for under $5, although you probably knew that already. My 200B came with a blown rocker cover gasket too... not sure how it happens.

well it was just loose rocker cover bolts :) because i didnt build the motor!!!
i blew a hydrolic master cylinder on the gbox and the piston inside went thrugh the clutch fork!!!

i didnt think that could happen but wow. as for the bluebird 5 speed...any one want 2 buy a bluebird 5 speed :D

is it hard to revert to a stanza 5 speed from the bluie and also can i use the same clutch/flywheel

plus i got trx rims witch i think i will autosul ( the metal cleaner) the lip and paint matt black centres and paint her 2 pak white should be done in a month or 2 but at the moment she needs a exaust

any other tips will be appreciated cyas round

If you want a 5 speed you'll either need an MR30 Skyline 5 speed, a Stanza 5 speed or a Stanza SSS 5 speed. I'd say that they would all just bolt up with you being able to use the same flywheel ands clutch. And with regards to the Bluebird 5 speed, I kind of see what NSW Datsun says, I have what I believe to be a Bluebird gearbox in my 200B, first is fairly short (good for burnouts  ), third is a rather long jump from second, but it cruises at 100km/h fine. You should be able to get between $50 and $100 for your Bluebird box if it is good working order.

Ill have a SSS Stanza 5 speed box and crossmember available in a few weeks thatll bolt stright up to your Stanza/L series, same flywheel/clutch and uses standard tailshaft.

yeh thats what i thought haha.

you would be glad to hear my weld job is holding for now. The clutch works fine now and the G box is still like new but im selling her for a stanza 5 speed because i dont want to make a custom tailshaft

got a quote on painting the car bout 200 for paint and ill prep her myself. The engine bay is matt black so im going to paint it 2pak white because it kind of matches. and going to do a clean boot install with just a simple 12 inch sub nothing crazy and nice carpet.

any other suggestions just give us a yell :)

Baz at datsport can sell you a rod with a special nut on it to solve that issue.

PM sent regarding the box.

You wont need to take engine out to change gearbox, though sometimes its easier to do the whole lot out of the car.
