Yeah got them from the US of A. Speedhut revolution metric gauges, got them to fit without to much modification. Just painted the engine bay today, FINALLY! Will post pics later when I can get to the computer! Just a few little runs to fix and 1 big one (bottom right corner) you'll see that in the pic!

Had a heap of fun :x trying to get the heater hoses in, yes before the motor went in, I just bought 2 mtrs of the right size hose and slid a spring over it where it comes through the firewall to stop it from kinking up! what a mission!! Probably would have been easier if I had help when doing this. Am also getting a plate of 3mm aluminium bent up to cover the top of the radiator, thanks to Race Radiators in Dandenong. Next radiator hoses and I/C piping. Giving the body work a rest for a while, not that I have much to to, just a bad case of the can't be's!

Good work on the install mate.

What did you do with the heater hose outlet from the engine to the heater box as there needs to be a reduction in size?

Cheers,

Trent

Well I had to change over the heater tap,so I bought a universal type from Bursons. This had a larger type hose fitting. So I mounted it up where the original tap was (with some minor mods). Then went to super cheap and went through their range of heater hoses, found one that had a couple of bends in the right directions and a flared end that was the perfect size to fit the sr pipe. With the other hose, I bought a length of 12 or 13 mm heater hose from clark rubber, fit it off to the heater and fed it through the fire wall. Slid a spring that was bought from bunnings over the hose till it went through the firewall so the hose wouldn't kink, then i welded up 2 short lengths of SS pipe dad had laying around the shed. One piece was the correct size for the datsun hose the other was the correct size for the sr hose. Then from the original sr hose I cut a particular section out, slid that back onto the other sr pipe and joined the datsun hose to the sr hose using my little pipe! Clear as mud? I'll get some photos of it up asap. After re reading this photos should make it easier to understand.

Hey all, haven't been on for a while, I've moved away from my beloved car. Gotta follow the work around so am now in Gladstone Queensland. I went back to Melbourne over christmas and spent about 2 weeks on the car and organized a spray painter. Once the car is painted I'll get it brought up here to me so I can continue putting it together. So the tasks I undertook were:
-sound deaden the floor (only had enough to to the firewall and up to the front seat rail). It was free, so thanks cousin of mine!

-I removed all the old crappy insulation from the roof and acquired some commercial type sound deadner/ heat proofing sheets. Put plenty of liquid nails and stuck it on.
-installed my seats, front and rear

File comment: The insulation has a foil backing with 3mm tar or rubber sheet then with 15- 20mm foam dimples on top of that.

Just a few pics of the front and rear seats and the insulation I used under the roof lining. (Don't mind the mdf sheet, thought I'd try something different and it failed)
There is one big ticket item I have forgotten to mention, maybe a photo?

My new Work Equip 03 wheels
15x7 front +22 A disk
15x7.5 rear +26 O disk
Measured everything about 100 times before I ordered them so I hope they work! If not maybe the painter/ panel beater can sort it out for me.
Anyway that's where I'm at, just waiting for things to happen from another state!

So it's been quite a few years since I've posted due to work and family life. That also means that work on the car has been really really slow. Few things to update, like colour on the car, I was going to go white but thought differently after I saw what I think is a better choice. It sat at the panel beaters for about 4 years but finally its home. Trying also to retrofit a golf gti interior. Need to get some front seat brackets engineered and need a rear top seat section stitched together. Had a spare set lying around so I thought I'd give it a go. Got the lower section of the rear to fit quite nicely with minimal mods.

That's a pretty cool colour! Is it an original Datsun colour?

Nah, it's actually the colour of the new mustang. It's called grabber blue from memory.

Have you got any photo's of the fronts seats?
I have considered a set of series 4-6 gti seats for mine.

Rears look good!

Yeah mate, I've fabbed up a bracket which I don't have a photo of yet but will get one next time I'm home. I've gotta get them made up properly though. I've also only made them up for the drivers seat. The passenger seat is just sitting in place in this photo.

They look ok, but they look like they sit up high. What are your thoughts?
Have you got a photo from side on? I'd also be keen to see how high the front of the foam is from the middle of the driver's front seat mount.
If you've got a spare minute to take a photo or two?

They're the Golf oem rails too, not Datsun are they?
