Hi guys
I been a member of this site now for a wee while and love it.I brought my first datsun about a year or more ago after racing karts for 16 years and have had enough and was time for a change so i decided to find a 1600 as i have loved these since a wee fella and thought it would be a good idea to waste some money and build a race car.
I pulled it out of a paddock and it was so ugly i wondered if i was doing the right thing but turns out it was and its been woth it.
Im running it in a classic class round a few tracks against escorts and cortinas etc and doing a few hill climbs. The car is not super quick as ive had to leave the l serirs engine in it to keep in tie with the class rules.
It is running a L18 with a cam , double valve springs and work to head.40mm webbers, lightened fly,r30 5 speed , r160 subaru 4:44 LSD,headers, bosh coil bilstien shocks all 4 corners , king springs, just fitting r33 front disks and calipers and r31 rear disks and calipers with datsport kits and also aluminium radiator.

i have only a few photos of about 6 months ago but i will take more soon as car is now sign written and more has been done

Love it, and love the motor too :)

That throttle setup, is that just a weber cable kit for all makes? Or is it specifically for a certain manifold/carb setup? I.e what did you ask for when getting it? I need one aswel... Was it simple to setup? I imagine it feels much better than the old linkage setup...

Cheers mate, and nice car

Hey.Wheni took these photos it had some king springs in the back with bilstien shocks. After a bit of driving aroung the rear of the car became very saggy and it was on the bump stops and was getting real bad chassis slap.Turned out the shpp had supplied me with a r32 skyline spring i think which fitted and looked exaxtly the same as a 1600 one but the rate was up the sh*t and ended up having to be changed to the right ones. The car is now about an inch higher and it is on kings with bilstien shocks

hope this helps
cheers craig

Hi
I brought the linkage setup from a place in england called burton power. The setup i got is just a standard setup for any webber carb and is really nice and so easy to fit.I was having real dramas with trying to make a linkage setup and in the end i bit the bullet and paid about $300 for the linkage fire wall plugs for the cables to pass through , the block which goes on the top of the throttle pedal which connects to the cables and twin cables. It is a really great kit and makes it so much tidier and smother on the pedal and best of all you get a better idle as with a linkage set up when the moter is moving all over the place it tends to interfare with the old style solid linkage rather than cables.

If you go on the Burton power website it has all the products and pics and prices and i ordered them on a tuesday and got them 3 days later on friday

Thanks for that matey, i'll deffinately look into it. Was going to do the cable over the rocker cover and between the manifold to pull up on the throttle, but it fouled on my 1-piece manifold. Whats the advantage with the twin cable setup? (i assumed one was the choke before).

Had it dynoed?

No i havnt had it dynoed yet but will be in the next few weeks as im getting the webers tuned. They reakon the advantage to the twin cable setup is that is is alot smother on the padal as your not forcing all the pressure through one cable and one wasnt the choke they were both put in for the twin setup

here are the pics you were after and finally i brought these r32 4 pot calipers that are going on the front as the 910 calipers dont cut it anymore.Just also brought some r31 disks and calipers for the rear today so will be needing all the fitting kits from baz

the brake setup will certainly bring it up a heap better.
i didn't realize how much extra room under the car you would have by relocating the fuel tank to the boot.

its a very clean setup you have going.
well done
