Post subject:  Hi everyone

I've been lurking for a while and thought I should actually join in.

It's great to see so much Datto action in Victoria and so many nice cars on this site.

I've had my 1600 since 2000. I got it from a bloke in Cranbourne and it was set up as a track car. Chris Boland from 1600 workshop turned it into a rally car for me, and my wife and I did that for a year. Then we DNF'd at Rally of Melbourne and it was all over :(

So now I'm converting it back into a road car as a hobby. I don't know much about cars, so I thought it would be a good project to get me started.

Hopefully make it to the dyno day on Sat and say hi. That's if I can get the baby seat, pram, wife and 2 month old to fit! haha

Anyway... here is a recent shot of my ride.

Dylan

Welcome

I don't know a great deal about mechanics of Datsun etc, but this site has a lot of great people who know a lot, so feel free to search the site and you should find a post on most things you need to know :)

If not - post the question up :D

Thanks for the kind welcome(s)!

Thanks SIX-TEN, I bought the car in Cranbourne, I'm actually in Caulfield. Although I just drove through there on my way to Tooradin this arvo.

Unfortunately my nice shiney number plates are the neatest part of my car, the photo makes it looks much nicer than it does in real life. I did a bunch of rust repairs about a year ago and obviously did it wrong cause the rust has come back already :( Mostly around the taillights.

I had to do the number plates in the slimline, 5 character format to fit them in the garnish I put on. I'm trying to go for a bit of a JDM look :)

The JDM look is the best

Caufield?

I used to live in St Kilda east almost at the very end of wattletree rd and Ormomd rd.

I wish I was still there, I used to see quite a few Dattos hooning past.

The other datto is my donor car. It's a bit of a rust bucket but it came with a new(ish) interior which is mostly now in my car.

If you feel like being bored or having a laugh at my efforts, here is my datsun blog :

Cool blog. I wasn't bored lol, just wanted to read it :)

Your 1600 project is a good one, you have done well, great improvements.

Might I add, your a fantastic Datsun 1600 artist, that drawing is fantastic
You should post the drawing up here, people would really appreciate that kind of art.

You've honestly done a fair bit of work to this one. Good job

Are you far from Caulfield train station? PM me and I'll come and visit you sometime.

welcome Mate
It looks as good as 90% of the 1600s on the road these days, so it looks pretty good to me!
