i have done the 'slit, bash and re-weld' trick and it did give me a bit more clearance. i'm running 16 x 8 + 40's (yeah yeah, gay offset) but with r30 arms which give a wider track so i have to run that offset.

i reckon those advans look the goods. i have 225 50 16 which are fairly balloony and i'm on the edge of rubbing/not rubbing. with about 2.75 deg neg camber which is more than i want... keep playing around as it'll be worth it the end

sorry for continuing the o/t. your car is looking very very tidy

Okay so ive been home for a week working flat chat on the datto.
Snow trip got cancelled, so i have an extra week to get it goin!
The basic gist of it is that i have:
- Finished passenger side doors (inners, rubbers, windows, strikers, locks etc. etc)
- Finished running the wiring and defi/dash wiring
- 90% finished the custom defi dash (still have to lay one more layer of glass, then get it trimmed)
- Got all the dash in (glovebox, vents, speedo, tacho etc. etc)
- Fitted up the accelerator cable and pedal
- Drivers seat is in
- Put the motor and gearbox in
- Wired up the PLMS loom
- Finished off the front struts and brakes (calipers on, and pads and pins all in)

Still to do:
- Finish fuel system (filter and pump and fittings)
- Finish drivers side doors (seals, inners, windows etc.)
- Convert to R31 rear brakes
- Run rear brake lines
- Get brake hoses made up
- Buy and fit centre mount handbrake
- FIND LARGE COLUMN IGNITION BARREL AND INDICATOR STALK
- FIND A BOOT LOCK WITH KEY
- FIND DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW SLIDER CHANNEL (3/4 window stainless part that goes down into the door)
(PM me if you have any of these)
- Windscreen wiper mechanisms
- Buy guard indicators
- Check all the wiring again and again..
- Chuck in a battery
- Check wiring again
- Prime, and check for fuel leaks
- TRY TO START!!

We will see how we go in the next couple of weeks.

Here are all the up to date pictures:

Another update.
Not a HEAP done today, but got some essential things done.
Bought fluids, like oils and coolant etc. etc.

After trekking around town spending more and more money, i came home and started sorting some things out.
- Bought a radiator hose off something like a VL commodore, cut it in half, and now i have an upper radiator hose! Just need to find/make a 35mm section to join the two halves back together.
- Bought about $40 worth of stainless nuts and bolts and screws which should see me through to the end!
- Got my radiator outlet welded up for $15!!!!! A 15 minute job, and $15 whilst i waited, and it was all done! Sweeeet...
- Went and got a 90degree bend from an exhaust shop for the intake.. unfortunately they didnt have stainless... so ill just paint it gunmetal when its ready.
- Couldnt find stainless at the place i thought would have it.. try another few tomorrow.

- I got the front fascia finished off and mounted up properly
- Combi indicators done
- Lower grill trim cleaned, and polished up to mirror finish :D
- Upper rad hose done
- Filled clutch master and bled clutch system. Now i have a clutch!! Heavy button bastard too....

Tomorrow:
- Finish intake
- Strip grille and headlight trims of shitty old paint, then re-polish, along with bonnet trim (straighten out dents first)
- Fuel system! Flare fuel pipes, mount pumps and filters, mount tank and hook up all the fittings
umm cant think of what else.. too tired.

Pics:

*Minus the adapter btw... was just using it to temporarily join the hoses

Slow but good day today. Engine bay is pretty much finished.
Just gotta do the wiper motor and check the started and alternator etc.

- I ended up getting aluminium pipe, 37mm diameter, which turned out to be a RPITA!!! Trying to stretch ~35mm hose onto 37mm lol
But i got it, and its tight as a mofo, so it aint goin anywhere.
So that means all the radiator hoses are finished, waiting for fluid :)

- I also got stainless for my wiper motor cover cut to size, all i need to do now is cut it to shape using a nibbler and bend it to shape.

- A little bit of fiddling and cutting later, the intake is all done, plumbed into the corner out of the way.

- Mounted up exhaust manifold and started planning how to mod the extractors to fit.

- Had a bit of a muck around and ended up mounting the coil on the original bracket, under the rad hose, and dizzy, out of the way, nice and tidy.

And i just did a general tidy up and clicked in a few more sensors/plugs etc. etc.

Fuel system is tomorrow, then wiring x3, then hopefully ill try to crank it over.

inlet isn't finished by the looks of things, what about your IAC hose, needs to be plumbed in AFTER the AFM and before the T/B, so that piece of round pipe between the two would be the place to weld a fitting on so the IACcan connect to it.
In the photo's it looks like you have just blocked it off, thats a NO NO, and will just ause you issues in the future to do with erratic idle etc

Nope.
Its all sorted.
I just need to find hose big enough for the IAC.
If you look closely, you can see the apexi adapter between the AFM and the filter, that enables you to connect the IAC to it.
Seen clearly in this pic:

Mate that is a great looking 1600!
I like the colour and the wheels, and i love how everything looks so new and clean! It looks like you've put some effort into the brakes and suspension too from what i can see so it should be a well rounded car with the SRde :)
Top effort!

It has to be after the AFM or the air readings will be wrong, that Apexi adaptor is for the EGR pipe/rocker breather not the IAC, think about it, it's designed for a standard SR20 motor where the AFM is on the other side of the motor, along with all the EGR gear and rocker breather hoses, whereas the IAC is on the inlet side

So, in between the AFM and the throttle body??

MM thats okay... ill just get some more scrap pipe and make one up..
Mild steel intake makes it easy to weld to. lol
