what i was aying is that sure you can fit them, but more than likely a guard roll will be in order to have them fit without too many scrubbing issues, and the fact that it's been painted, is more of an annoyance more than anything else

Rear guards have been rolled, lipped, and stretched a little bit... basically they just angle out a little bit more.

But bad news... i didnt win the rear rims.. got way too expensive. Too popular
So now i have to wait for another pair of 7.5J or 8J around zero offset to pop up..

Also, R&D is underway for fitting a WRX diff, and mods to the crossmember for a bigger exhaust (not just drilling it out larger)
I may even fork out for the datsport VARC kit whilst the crossmembers out..
And do the R31 conversion whilst im there (admittedly i forgot to do it before i put them in  )

Ill let you all know what happens....

So you're not fussed about traction issues from big neg camber?

As I see it, the step of the rear door jam inside the wheel well is much more of an issue then the outer lip position. Having that big bulge there gets in the way too much for the tyre as the wheel gets closer to the outer lip. If mine wasn't painted, I'd love to take a hammer and grinder to it.

I am fussed about traction loss due to excess, however i have a slotted crossmember, so being low.. theres not a huge amount of excess camber. There still is camber, just not insane amounts.

Yeah i know the step your talking about... ill see what i can do wheel and tyre wise, so i dont get massive rubbage there..
Heres my car with the slotted member and 13" wheels, not too much camber, but a little bit:

News:
I got me a diff. lol
Subaru R160 VLSD 4.444 WITH CV shafts
So one of the first things I do when i get home is modify the CV shafts to get rid of the CV's, and bolt up to the 1600 half shafts.
Easy.

My thoughts exactly - as long as the door shuts, who cares. Shouldn't be too hard to tidy the paint up, it's not a highly visible spot to worry about.

P.s. I'm test fitting some 8.5" +35 Advans later this week. Let the a-arm hacking begin.

yeah i agree with 200bsx.

i had 8" +38 (with 5mm spacers so +33ish) and i had to cut about 4mm off the arm. should have tried my 15mm bolton to see if they fit okay...
SO, 8.5" +35 will just be sh*t. probably need to cut about 15 to 20mm from the a arm, whilst still having gap of about 30 to 40mm to the guard.
Try at least 15mm or 25mm bolt ons will get them sitting out further, and keeping away from the A-arm.

I disagree.

The 8.5's will sit 3.3mm in more than the 8" +38's, and out another 9.3mm. By my measurements they'll sit off the rear door jam bulge by 5-8mm depending on what tyre I use. As my a-arm's have already been trimmed, they may only need to have another 1-2mm shaved off. So in my book they're worthwhile testing.

Oh and to clarify, JDM looks are not the most important thing for me. I don't want phat looking stretched 185's on them (which looks cool - no arguement here), I want 225's and no scrubbage at full spring compression.

Last time I checked, you didnt need an 8.5 inch rim to fit a 225 tyre on J?

Sorry for the continued o/t, but...

I don't think they look gay at all.

And that's with 235/45's too.
