Yep, its the standard orange, just that there are about 3-4 "oranges" listed in paint books for Datsun's from that era. I got sample tins of a few different ones made up before giving up and getting paint matched to a bonnet I had. I'm still not 100% happy with the match, so it would be good to know the exact colour code.

From the bonnet I had (off a SSS), and another SSS I've seen (which didn't have the paint code sticker anymore), I believe that the orange on a SSS is different to the oranges used on sedans- its got a slight "pink" or "apricot" tinge to it. Could be wrong, or the paint I've seen could just be old and dis-coloured, I'm just curious as even though mine was originally white, I really want to have it painted in the original SSS orange from 1972.

Nice looking car, BTW. Looks pretty neat and tidy

dave! mine is a '72 and orange and i just ran out to get my paint code for you and you wont believe it. the label is there, you can read everything expect the damn code! all i know is that it ends in a 2. hope that helps...

thanks for the complement. it WAS neat and tide till i fried the electrics. i have just sold it actually. going to a good home where he will restore it back to original from the ground up over the next few years. i think if he was planning on butchering it i would not of sold it. im a poor uni student and planning on going away for a few years and want it to be loved.

Thanks for that - I'll drag the paint code lists out again and see if any of the potential candidates ends in two
