Been pumping it out the last few days trying to get the car ready for the cruise on the 11th. wiring is all but complete now and the job i've been avoiding for a while now ive been working on over the last few days - the extractors. I had to rejig the no. 4 runner as it hit (just) my inlet manifold. then i made the collectors and am currently negotiating the secondaries. doesn't look like much for a few days in the shed but stainless is a bitch!

also resorting to the mig to get it done rather than going up to a mates and getting it tigged. its not pretty but should do a good job

Welcome to Stainless welding Leigh... It's a right royal pain.
Although it's looking good mate.

A bad tradesman always blames his tools... so thats me i guess! The welder didn't handle the stainless like it would mild wire so the finish isn't as neat, but it did the job and its over!

The megasquirt is mounted on an alloy sheet underneath the tray that sits under the glovebox, all that will be visible when sitting down may be the relays. got to tidy up the wires and then conduit them

Looking good Leigh. I really hope you make it to the cruise! If you get time you should smooth over those welds and then make the extractors look like a mirror.

No point Al they are stainless and will discolour after the first drive.

plus i don't want to compromise the integrity of the weld and have them crack, it doesn't look that bad! plus its all pretty hidden under the inlet manifold.

This is why cruises dont happen, peoples cars dont run ,they are modified mostly and unreliable.

Lets all buy nissan x-trails and hit the sand down on the peninsula. And other good selling point is x-trails have rad cup holders to hold your stubbie or can of softdrink depening if you drink or not.

Personally, I think this car is well worth the wait.

Hahah.

What relay holder is that?
Aftermarket or stock from another car?
I find it funny that you think your wiring is messy

sorry, missed this little rant... dedicated some more time to the car not filling my pie hole with pizza    :cheers

relay holders are actually individual ones that interlock together, i bought mine from bursons they were pretty cheap and help neaten things up a little. its not too messy there are just heaps of wires floating around.

weather people come along to cruises or gatherings is up to them. theres just no point whinging that they never happen only to not go when they do!

Eating is necessary to living, working on cars isnt :D
Hot Tip: make cruises fun and people will attend. :P
If this makes it to the cruise I'll come for a look and annoy you about welders, been getting a few quotes lately

thats more incentive for me to get it there  if the weather holds up it should be a nice gathering, couple of verrry nice 1600s may attend. I don't really care about cruises or not, a good datsun gathering is all i'm after!

thanks anth, definately takes patience - and there is a bit to the design and making it fit, pitty i'm not the greatest stainless welder
