Hey,

I'm swapping an L20 into my 1600, and having a few problems with the wiring.

Out of the TPS there are three wires, orange, green and black... see pic:

now, i'm running an old Microtech DIGI series 1+. Here is the wiring diagram (sorry, sideways):

At the moment, the black wire from the TPS joins the brown wire from the Microtech (earth) and the green wire from the TPS joins the grey wire from the Microtech (TPS).

The last wire from the TPS is orange (which is joined to a green wire in the pic) went into the loom somewhere, and i cant figure out where?

Any ideas what the orange wire is and where is should be joined into the Microtech (it was previously)?

It probably doesn't use the 3rd wire.

You need to determine what type of TPS you have, contact or potentiometer type.
Easy done with a multi meter or test lamp.

From the diagram, as long as the TPS is the simple contact type, then you just need the ECU Grey and Brown wires to tell the ECU that the TPS is at IDLE position.
The other contact is probably a "FULL THROTTLE" contact.
Obviously it will tell the ECU when the TPS is at full throttle by grounding the 3rd contact, or as you have, the Orange wire.
From what I can determine from the diagram, the ECU makes no use of a FULL THROTTLE signal.
If the ECU and loom are 2nd hand, looks like it is, then the previous use/engine may have made some use of this signal.
It may have been a boosted engine, whereas yours is atmo. is it not?

Looking at the TPS, my best guess is that it is actually a potentiometer type

If it is, then you will need to wire it as per the lower diag. [sorry, sideways] using the ECU Blue, Grey and Brown wires.
