Various options are:

under one of the front seats, in the boot under the rear shelf or against the rear seat panel thingo, unless the fuel tank is in the boot, not a good idea.

Only suggestions.

Don't mount amps upside down. This is a big no no.

When the amp is upside down the heat the amp produces accumulates around the curcuit board. (Not good)

The heat should rise up to the heat sink (eg the large ally cover) so the heat is disipated as fast as posible. On there side is ok. But try to get it facing up.

Slide a piece of timber sheet 12mm to 16mm under the carpet beneth the front seat. Then screw the amp to this, through the carpet with out going to the floor. If you screw it to the floor you can damage the amp as the floor will never be flat. This can distort the chassis and crack the curcuit board.

2 The earth lead should be as short as reasonably posible. Never longer than 450mm. This reduces the chance of noise induction. Go straight to the chassis of the car and remove the paint from the contact area. Use a nut and bolt. Not a self tapper. Or god forbid a tek screw.

3 Run the RCA leads on the other side of the car from the power cable. Never along side it. Again a noise thing.

buy a couple of sheet's of ply

trim out your boot, mount it in there. if you've got a jigsaw, some sheet's of cardboard to make template's and some auto carpet shouldn't take more than a day and will cost around $200 (if you cant beg borrow or steal the stuff you need) plus will make it look that lil nicer too!

While the election is on. Let me tell you those election posters littering your neghbourhood make awsome trim panels in car boots. Flat, stiff, very light weight and will never absorb moisture.

You cant mount amps on them obviously. But for a plain panel you can't beat it. Remember this, for all the weight you put into you car you are slowing it down.

Use proper automotive trimmers carpet. Strathfeild will sell it to you and it is quite cheap. Use 3M spray glue if you can get it. Thats the expencive bit. If you can't get it the K and H glue is pretty good at half the price. Oh yeah read the bloody instructions. I have watched people stuff this up time after time.

dragon do you work for strathfield as a fitter? because thats the most informative and correct things about installing an amp ive read in car forums in a long time.

the fuel tank gets in the way of a lot of options in the 200bs

make up a round pannel to fit in the wheel well, ditch the spare then make up a flat cover pannel to go over the top and only expose the amp face. looks neat. thats the plan i have for my 200b.

boots the only reasonable place i can think of for that car sorry champ.

Smashfeilds? Ok I admit I have worked for them at one stage in the past on and off. I work for myself now. Though in saying that Strathys and I have a deal going in the lead up to xmas, so I have, lets say an "Association with them". Them and many others.

Getting any work done to your car by somebody you dont know is always a gamble. You all probably have stories to back this up.

I am in Adelaide. "LIVE WIRE SYSTEMS" Custom boots to 24 hour winning race car construction. PM me for further details.

all i did, was bought some ply wood from bunnings,
got the original fuel tank carboad
traced it on the ply wood,
cut it out with a jigsaw
and mounted the amp on it
all i needa do now, is get the carpet and stick it on
looks great, and hides all the wires and looks clean

Or you could go with vinyl instead of carpet.

I made a new parcel shelf for my skyline and covered it with black vinyl.

im actually currently employed by strathfield.

i dont think its fair to catagorize compannies to good or sh*t work. i know a lot of installers for a lot of different compannies and i know some strathfield guys i wouldent let touch cars of people i dont like. but just because i work for a bigger name dosnt mean i dont put pride and a full effort into my work.

i have a few people i consider clients instead of customers and they know my name so in that case its more my name on the line than strathfields.

but i also think a pair of those exhausts would look hot on my 200B. how much? lol

Strathfield car radio are sh*t, all of them i know this because for 15years working in the car audio industry i made a lot of money for my employer fixing there stuff ups. I started there and had the good sense to leave. Drive in and walk away.
