Hey folks. I'm doing a little bit of work on the purple (MS1600) 1600 trying to get it roadworthy. Once roadworthy i'll cruising in it as a daily as me and Brianna are down to one car at the moment. Bought an XF Falcon as a family so it will be good to have a datto on the road again

Anyway, i have come across a few things wrong with the car that have been that way the whole time it was registered and driven around in back in 2008. The main one is that the tailshaft is 24mm too short, so it doesn't fit the whole way into the back of the gearbox. It does go in a drives ok but there is a knocking noise coming from that area when at idle and I always thought there was a problem, so as soon i looked under it and noticed the input shaft only half way in, I knew there was a problem. I know there are different sized tailshafts for use with different gearboxes but i thought there was more of a difference tha 24mm.

So can anyone tell me what i need to get the correct shaft from? It is an L20B engine with a 240K 5 speed.

Ok just thought i'd post up some pics of MS1600 as not many pics have ever been posted up here really. Mainly just shnowing the interior. It has R32 Skyline fron buckets, reappolstered hood lining, door trims and parcel shelf.

Well a few months ago now I bought myself yet another 1600 From a member on here "Joebry"

I really havent done a lot to it since the purchase other than ogle it and fit a set of stock rims with white wall "flappers" and painted the centres of the rims in my favourite colour. Every time i look at the car i find extra goodies on it, so far have discovered 4 spot Volvo calipers up front with adjustable coilovers up front and adjustable shocks in the rear, datport steering brace and master cylinder, z brakes on the rear, big sway bar up front and all bushes throughout the car have been replaced with nolathane bushes. She's running a little rough at the moment at idle but seems fine once reving through the gears. Just need to get a tune and get it idling OK (seems to dumping too much fuel in at idle).

I actually bought it about a year ago, but she has simply been left in the shed.

I took her out to take pictures to put on the ad on gumtree, then realised I couldn't possibly sell her! There is no way I could ever find another 1600 in this condition.

Also regretted selling my kinoko beige 1600, so assumed I would soon feel regret if I sold this 69'. Hopefully will be getting her out and about more now

The kinoko beige 1600 is now a bare shell.
Going in for blasting and panel work next

Removed the 240K steering wheel today and fitted a ridgey didge steering wheel, looks much better now

Nice one Brianna, good to see you're still into it. I have to admit that the standard 1600 wheel does look really cool. So is the white one pretty granny-spec? I'll have to come and visit you guys next time I'm up that way
