Yeah, it all looks really nice  it would look a treat in the car.

Before you put it all back together I would suggest that you get your extractors acid dipped too, to remove all of that surface rust. Mine look similar, but since I am about to get a new exhaust I will get them cleaned up before then.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I'll be getting video for sure. It'll sound great. I like the power of turbo engines but I just can't get away from the NA sound through the hills at full noise. They just don't compare.

Oh, hint for anyone putting a turbo oil pump and cover onto a NA FJ20. Unless you have a turbo chain drive gear that slides onto the crank, you'll have to get the NA gear milled 2mm furthur back otherwise the Turbo cover won't bolt up without the pump jamming and your engine not being able to rotate. I'll post pics soon.

Its nearly finished now after the weekend. :D

Will have to wait for my crank scrapers and windage tray to arrive before the sump goes on and that will be the last of it. Woo hoo!!!

Am hoping to fit it all during Christmas break as I have everything at home ready to go. :impatient:

It's looking pretty mean Scott. Good to see you finally found an engine stand too. Patience is obviously your friend. I don't think I could wait till Christmas to get the thing running. Hope the process continues to run smoothly.
Joe.

Thanks Joe.

Well not really anything to report I'm affraid. I'm just waiting for my crank scrapers to arrive from the US, and I've gotta pickup another oil pump/ timing cover that I'm getting off a friend as the one I had was a bit to worn for my liking. I didn't want to ruin a brand new engine because of fitting a worn oil pump. It would have done the job but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Once the oil pump and scrapers/windage tray is installed thats the engine done. Its currently on the stand 99% complete.

I also picked up a Wolf 3D V3 ECU for $200 with loom and controller too so I'll be pulling out my Microtech Digi 2 and getting rid of that. Any takers?

Just waiting waiting waiting.

Ok a little up date.

My crank scraper and windage tray set up turned up from the states. After a few minor adjustments its all in. I also ended up putting the NA Timing cover and pump in too after speaking with someone who knows FJ20's. So we'll see how that goes.

So the sump is on and a few other things. All getting ready for the Christmas install. Hooray!!!

Enjoy the pics.

That looks sweet! I'm loving the clean engine and twin Webers!

That dizzy looks like it's in a bit of an irritating place to adjust. It was like that on my old Ford, I had to adjust it one day, but after twenty minutes of stuffing around trying to get it, I decided it was a Ford and if it ran like crap, I didn't care!

I'm looking forward to seeing this all back together. The car is going to look even nicer.

Thanks. Yeah the dizzy isn't in the best spot on FJ's. Good thing I won't have to adjust it much.

Oh. They aren't webers. They're EFI throttle bodies... :D

Right, I'll stop trying to sound intelligent now.

Whatever they are, they look awesome!

Hi Stig,

I knew the NA pump I had was in near perfect condition so I went with that as my Turbo pump was a little more worn. Still ok but I wanted to take no chances. I won't be revving the beans out of this engine so the NA pump will suffice.

No more adjustable cam gears. They were a one off that my dad made. I posted the pics of them so people could get ideas if they are or know a fitter and turner.

Scott.

UPDATE!

Well the engine is in (sort of). I'm just getting the L20B mounts modded at the moment then the engine will be in properly. In the mean time it's sitting on wood and an axle stand.

The gearbox and auto tail shaft all slid and bolted into place with no mods required of anything. That was using the 200B G-box crossmember. YES!!!

I've done nearly all the wiring for the Wolf 3D. Just have to do the ignition side now. I've now got something like 8 relays in the engine bay!!! Sheesh.... List is as follows:

ECU
Fuel pumps
Thermo fan
Aux control
Low beam
High beam
Injectors
Starter

Would like to think I won't need any more.

I still have to sort out what I'm going to do for a radiator. Will keep researching. Any ideas? Will the N13 type be enough for this bad boy?

Can't wait to get it fired up. I have y exhaust bloke lined up. It'll be getting a 2 1/4" mandrel bent system with hotdog and redback muffler. Probably a 3" chrome dump pipe. Still deciding on stainless or mild steel system yet.

Here are some pics of it dummy fitted. It won't lean as much when properly mounted.

Hope everyone had a great new years.

Scott.

Oh. Anyone got an FJ20 Aircon compressor?
