Sweet build man loving the work on the fj, I have the same radiator problem with mine and pwr where less than helpful when I spoke to them about it. Hopefully the water pump set up will sort it out for me as well. Good luck with the rest of your build

thanks mate. nice to know now that PWR are commonly useless to everyone. For your info, the cheapest 115L Davies Craig pump i found was on eBay sold by engine master in VIC. I can get you an alloy blanking plate made (if you have an FJ) for 200.

Started mucking around with an interior design lately. Aim is to use all original dash and refurbish it, but have new old school gauges such as these..

http://www.howardinstruments.com.au/pro ... 0f27ac519e

and have a sweet new old school radio such as this..

http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/category/id/1

I repainted the dash with a U-POL texture coat can. Texture came out good, but the finish was a light grey even though the can said black. So after every texture coat, i hit each dash piece with a few light mist coats of black (holding can at least 30cm away)

Glove box turned out great with a new painted emblem..

Repaired fascia. No more holes or deep 40 year old scratches.

[ img ]

S15 air vents push straight in (good old Nissan!)

[ img ]

Got a Vent fascia off Tokyo-2U. going to use for Boost, Water Temp, Fuel Level.

Recaro's from the blue datto. Will be re upholstered in leather soon.

Also purchased a dash cap from eBay.com. Bit of modifying still to do, but look original when complete.

OEM Niles fuse box

only a small update..

bought two boxes of sound deadening. free cutter, roller and insulating tape.

[ img ]

mate who is doing the trimming, finally got close to a headlining sample. still not close enough. leather on bottom, head lining on top..

[ img ]

bought a SSS cigarette lighter from Tokyo-2U

[ img ]

bought an XF Falcon throttle body off ebay. i will end up cutting off and welding up the big ugly air ports, powder coating the body and nickel plating the butterfly linkage plate and springs.

[ img ]

Also realised i hadnt shown off my number plates that are on hold. pretty rare score in NSW, worth a mention :D

nothing has happened at all with build since last post. got the roof sound deadening (sh*t that stuff's good!) in, and 2mm foam around pillars and parcel shelf. Suede hood lining going in next.

Nice work there Dan!

I was thinking about putting that deadner on the roof as well. I have a few more boxes of it...

Keep it up.

Cheers,

Trent

bit more progress. just been buying parts recently, storing in the cupboard...Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, Tial 44mm wastegate and recirc BOV, more sound deadener, Autronic 500R CDI.

I bought Mick McGregor's (NIS.016) rear end axle setup. Including DR30 stub axles, custom made billet shafts and CV joints. Got them for a great price, couldnt pass it up. Installed them over the weekend with new Nachi bearings, new seals and new nuts & bolts.

considering i had the rear discs off, i thought a nice lick o black paint was in order. the were starting to accumulate surface rust anyway. They will ultimately look great behind the black simmons

I also decided to add dust boots to the heim joints of the adjustable castor rods. Even though the RTA states that it is 'strongly recommended' that heim joints be covered with dust boots, as opposed to 'they must be', thought it was a good investment to keep the enginneer off my back. They were only $1.50 each anyway

Before..

After..
