What about a heat gun rather than a hair dryer? They produce more heat than any hair dryer.
if you use a heat gun at a high setting you'l end up cracking the glass ive seen it done

Lately i've been chasing the owner of T7 design heaters (http://www.t7design.co.uk) for specs, videos, noise decibels, fan CFM etc of his products, as cheapish, light weight, compact and efficient alternative to the stock 1600 heater unit.

He's been very helpful, so in return i told him i would post up the video he added on youtube about the 3.5KW Lightweight heater, which is the one im looking at for my 1600. There's four outputs on this model, i'll be using two for the windscreen and two for cabin heat.

It seems to have more than enough cfm to clear a siberian winter frosted windscreen, however i asked him about adding a variable resistor to the blower motor to reduce the fan speed (then also the noise) and also have multiple fan speeds. The heater comes standard with one speed.

I've asked him for a wiring diagram. If anyone has an input about doing this mod, comments would be appreciated (turbovan??)

If you're interested in ordering one, let me know and i'll hit Adam up for a group buy and hopefully bring cost down.
