One of the 240/260Z blokes rang me to say he had done a 59.3 on the Sprint circuit. Second fastest time of the day behind an Evo, in a road registered car

anything under 60 is quick

I seem to be going backwards at QR, I wasted 2 runs stuck behind turbo cars that wouldn't let me get past. (I was too stubborn to let them go and get a clear track :P )

I am back in 48's at Mt cotton so please with that.
Came 3rd in touring class at Hysterical hillclimb today.

I have a clunky noise to fix under the car

the clunking turned out to be the dust cover off the rear of the gearbox came loose and was flopping around on the tailshaft.

I hope that the tailshaft isnt out of balance now. It seems OK with normal road driving, but who knows what it will be like at QR.

TESTING:
going at it fairly easy its running 1 min 32 sec on the big circuit.
should come quicker when its sorted
my brake booster is stuffed & the car only has good tyres on the left side :P (well you only use the left side at the sprints)

I was getting in 2 or 3 hot laps and then having to let it cool down for 1/2 a lap as it was getting to 110 deg.

some videos, nothing particularly exciting except for another car blowing up an engine and me in the smoke screen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BKDKMc7kfk#

I had an engine miss which turned out to be loose plug leads.
the bugger uses a heap of fuel now :D

I have doubled the horsepower so i guess i now have double the heat.
plus intercooler covers part of the radiator as well.

I am in the process of pulling it apart to put in a lower opening thermostat and I am going to replace the water pump. I will use water wetter instead of coolant as well. If that doesn't reduce water temps I will have to look at other alternatives, maybe water injection ?

this is the pot calling the kettle black, as I have temperature creep problems too that I haven't bothered to sort out yet... But make sure you cover the basics first:

cover all other holes in the rad support, forcing the air through the radiator, and fill any gap between radiator and the support panel too.
a deep front spoiler will also help engine cooling alot, by creating a low pressure area under the engine bay allowing all the hot air under the bonnet to escape.

Water wetter apparently is good for 5 deg drop in temp, but I haven't tested that. My car apparently had this stuff in it when I bought it and the water quickly went brown - it doesn't seem to have any anti-corrosion properties. I wouldn't use it again. A chemical flush and proper coolant in it and it has now stays nice and clean.

Don't know whats going on there Harry.
I've been using Water Wetter in the Zed for the past couple of years,
& the water has stayed nice & clear.

I think some water wetters have anti corrosion and some dont. The guy who put me onto it said he dumps a bottle of anti-corrosion in with it. The Redline stuff that i just bought says anti-corrosion on the bottle.

Stanthorpe sprints what a weekend
we had rain freezing cold weather and there was even a chance of sleet

To give u an idea the air temp sensor (is mounted between air filter and Turbo) read 1 deg for my first 2 4 lap sprint races , the bluebird loved the cold air topping off at 20 lb boost and was throwing 3 foot flames at the end of the straight when i backed off

I was luck enough to throw my camera at a mate and he got a few of the bluebird

Yeh thats a good looking Bluebird, top presentation :)

Whats that Stanthorpe track like? Pity the straight does not continue up the hill and then curve back across the face of the hill.
