At the technical bookshop I saw a 1600 that had me in shock!
It was an american 2 door version with blended square box flares and beautifully finished detailing that with a an l16 had won some class there quite easily so if that wasnt it in the RACE magazine, you have to excuse me because this thing made me blind afterwards.
I just cant wait till issue 3!!! I can only agree with the luck I need as the oval inlet ports with the divider will be quite a challenge to tube. However the author mentioned in Issue 2 that in future editions of RACE, they will try this exercise on later twin cams.
I feel that they will do it on a ca18de as they are cheap at importers and they are almost an improved vesion of the fiat twin cams (thats a real compliment considering the fiat tc is the most successful engine in rallying) and steve newing has made 240hp on his formidable U2ltr stanza coupe.
Also they are the only common cheap twin cam used in a RWD setup apart from the SR20 (the late sr20de already have a high angled port design it would make sense to try the ca instead).
However if we put in an email petition we could maybe ask the author to try it on a ka24e or ka24de head
By the time the tube work is done on my NA ka24e head Ill be maybe able to have a set of the new oval style throttle bodies available on 2006/7 bikes. Ive read that from 2006 R1 and hayabusas will have oval slide injection to take advantage of the oval inlet port designs necessary for 16v twin cam engines and if Im lucky Ill be able to purchase a set of them from someone elses misfortune at bike wreckers.
