Hello again,
Does anyone know of any chemicals that i can use to get off some dodgy old purple window tint from my 1600?

I have tried using a razor blade with soap, metho etc but this took me f##kin ages just to do one rear windscreen! :? and im not sure but i may have scratched the glass...

There has to be some sort of special chemical out there that removes this shite, if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing, the windows arent in the car so any suggestions are welcome

cheers

Martin

You said u tried Metho.... well the three main solvents to use are metho, kerosene and acetone... from memory, when i did it i used Kero.
Did metho make the tint under coat go all sticky and gooey?
Well yer any way kero, and it takes a while... but not as long as a razor blade!
have fun!
Rob

Since the windows aren't in the car, what about trying some paint stripper?

Cheers,

Spray the tint with ammonia, & wrap in glad-wrap.

Not sure how long it takes, but it works.

we had mobile window tinters come into work to do a car and they used a heat gun to get the old tint off

i think they did it pretty quickly aswell

No mate, a heat gun is pretty much exactly like a hairdryer except more powerful. It's for stripping paint, lifting stickers, basically unsticking stuff. I can't see why it wouldn't work on window tint.

Instead of using a razor blade, get a piece of perspex and grind a sharp edge on that. Then you won't dig into the glass.

i used a hairdryer to get the tint off my datto, easy as, just run the hair dryer over a corner till it's warm and start peeling and just run the hair dryer up and down the area that you are pulling on next.
