Hi everybody,

2020 marks the start of a new decade, and in this case the start of a new pandemic! Whilst we're all in lockdown I thought I would start this thread to see who is still here, and if they still own a Datsun. Unfortunately Ozdat is a lot quieter than it used to be but hopefully we can revive some interest.

I'll start off - I'm Alistair, and currently I still own my green 200B sedan, but also a rusty 200B SSS. I post in the spotted thread on here quite frequently but also occasionally in members' rides or the technical section. I still talk to RevHead0001 (Don), Dato200B (Callan) and travm182 (Travis) quite frequently.

So don't be shy - who else is still around or lurking?

Nissanman here
Still have a Datsun or two!
1965 Fairlady Sports - on classic registration.
1971 1600 4 door - on jackstands.
1972 1600 2 door - on a pallet.
1973 240Z - on a rotisserie.
2007 Maxima - on the road.

Might have to thin the herd soon, I'm getting too old to work on cars

Still have the 180B SSS on rotisserie
1600 for the track, currently blown up.
Other 1600, still buried in the back of the shed. Might un-bury it next year so I can sit in it and ponder owning it for 40 years.
1500 Fairlady, complete but in need of restoration
1600 Fairlady, in pieces

Now own an MX5 and have become involved more heavily with motorsport administration via the MX5 club. Currently have CAMS Bronze Event Command qualification, so I can act as Clerk of Course at race meetings up to State level (not that I have any aspiration to volunteer at that level, so far only done Clerk of Course at motorkhanas for MX5 club and Sydney Datsun Club, plus a few track days).

Currently very slowly and carefully building up a new engine for the 1600, after trying to rush a rebuild late last year to get to Bathurst and managing to drop and crack a piston in my haste.

Still here.
I never grew up.
Still spend 5-25 hrs a week in the garage chipping away.
I’ve been thinning out my Datsun for a few years.
Update the build thread every year or 2.

I'm here too....regularly checking for updates, great to see the various questions, comments and updates!

Have had quite a few Datsuns through the shed, some have stayed, some moved on, however two key projects currently on the go....

First one being a four door 1600 with SR20DE getting very close to completion of the engine installation and the second one being my 510 2-door sedan that is currently painted and rolling but will get into reassembly, and an engine build (refreshing the L20B Turbo from my old 1600 drag car) for it, later in the year.

Actually, I'm off to the shed now to update to-do lists....! :)

I still have a poke around here every few days.
I actually pulled the cover off my 1600 last week, going to rego it. As soon as I get the new head back from the machine shop.

Yep still here

My blue 1600 is still being driven most weeks
My black one is gathering dust in the shed, one day I'll get to it

I would really love to get my hands on a 1200 or 620 ute though. Just don't want to pay overs for the ridiculous prices being asked of them. Other cars I have thought about restoring are an R31 Skyline or even a W1116 Merc with a transplanted RB30 engine but the ute will come first.
