Hey Guys,

I have been around the forums for a few yrs when i had my first 1600 about 10 yrs ago, a white 72 1600 with Z18et, which i loved!

I have since done the family, house etc but managed to get my hands on a June(approx) 1969 1600 which i was in stock condition.

Body is great condition except the front sils and the front fender, which will hopefully be fixed in the next few months.

The car had apparently sit in QLD for approx 20yrs in a shed and was sold to a guy in Adelaide who was planning an SR conversion, but thought it was to stock to modify.

The car was disgustingly dirty underneath caked up in greasy dirt and all the bushes where shot.
The car came with matching numbers L16 it had a set of SU's which were not tuned and ran terrible, The original carb and air cleaner were in the boot so will hang on to that.

Since owning with the help of Elite holdings here in Perth all the bushes replace including ball joints, tie rods, idler arm, added adjustable rear end, replaced springs and shocks dropped it 30mm.

The engine has been removed painted new timing chain, bearings etc. I have also added a set of 40mm webers and is not running quite nicely.

Yes it is quite clean, thanks d, it has the orignal AM radio and single speaker under the glove box and also has the original owners manual and the cigarette lighter.

So this weekend i will be finishing off the engine bay painting, putting my new mirrors on, i have an ally radiator to go in, so i need a thermal fan as well. I also have a new set of brake rotors factory nissan items which i am happy about they will go nicely with all my new brake lines. I also have the electronic ignition to go in too.

I need to paint some a few things underneath the car.
I will also remove all the interior and clean the carpets and seats. The seats also need new foam/springs as i feel like i am sitting on the floor.. I will pull all the dash out and clean and paint.

I will update some more photos shortly.

I need a new dash pad as mine has some decent cracks and i need new tubing for the heater to demister. So if anyone has them please let me know

Going forward the plan then is to get an exhaust made up and have the rust cut out and repaired and I might think about a brake booster.
Then that will probably be it except for a really good polish..for now

Exhaust looks mint! Nice to see a fellow '69 in such original condition, I've very jealous of your maroon interior.

Anth,

I have just had a look at your ride....talk about jealous...it looks amazing, very nicely done stays very true to a Japanese build!

You wouldn't be jealous if you had to sit on the maroon seats, might as well sit on the floor!

Thanks Stowers, no plans other than to get it registered. I also have the usual small bits and pieces that need doing, dash, heater, finish the weber linkage, I have a datsport brake booster but undecided whether I will put it on yet, I will probably get some seatbelts and mounting points for kids seats in the back. Otherwise leave it as is, it is hard not to want it to pull harder..but that wasn't the purpose of the build. I still have all the original carb, exh manifold etc, considering it is all matching numbers, original paint etc there is no point dropping an SR/FJ/ L18/20 etc in it

Thats cool man very rare to see an orginal 1600 like that. Can always buy a 2nd 1600 to mod up to pull harder. datsport retractable seat belts are awesome to have plus they can be used for the rear also

I will give her a wash on the weekend and take a few more snaps, would be nice to have it on the road in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the heads up re dat sport seatbelts, there is nothing in the rear seats.
