Looking for information on rebuild kits for the Hitachi 'flat top' carbs found in the Datsun 610 180B SSS. I know that Fuel Miser had kits for these, but finding a part number is impossible.

I found an old thread where someone with the 'dome top' carbs had used the Fuel Miser HT-416 kit, but the catalogue also contains a HT-417 kit - but not sure what that's actually for.

Could anyone please help, surely this isn't an isolated case.

Thanks in advance.
Brendan

I'll get back to you. Dad managed to get some stuff from the local carby shop who happened to have the kit in stock. I took photos of everything too so will post all that stuff back up here too once I find the photos (can't remember if took on still camera or phone).

OK, so the kit is for the Hitachi HJG46W model as can be seen on the instructions. This is what the old carby bloke gave Dad for this 180B SSS. Not sure if Dad has had them fitted yet, as he's been travelling overseas recently. Haven't bothered resizing the images so sorry for the painful load but better to see detail if required I guess as then you can also read the instruction sheets for greater details.

HJG46W are zed carbs, not 180B SSS. Not sure what interchanges between the larger zed carbs and the SSS ones.

HJL38W, I believe. For the earlier round top 180B Su's anyway, not sure of the later flat top ones ?

There was also another number after this, but that referred to slightly different variations (ie HJL38W-1, -2, etc)

If you have the carbs, they often have the number on the side of the float chamber - see pic below of a Fairaldy one, can;t find a pic of my 180B carbs)

the "38" and "46" part refers to the throat size of the carb in mm.

Might be time to get the SSS over to rip the air box off and check for numbers just in case the Z carb kit doesn't fit.

If you are going to do a full reco on the carbs, I'd suggest grabbing a pair of the "new" plastic floats from Nissan, they're maybe $30 each ??. The old brass ones seem to fail quite often.

Any idea what the part numbers are? Direct from Nissan, or are they EOL?

Ill check my su's and see if I can find a part number! I have flat top ones. I also just brought some new floats from Nissan last month! was $55 for the pair of floats from memory. The part number is 16061-K1407

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks butch, the number on the SU's may provide some idea about which carby kit to search for.
