So the rust repairs are almost finished

Driver's side sill is done, floor pan is finished, firewall all fixed up and 99.99% of small/tiny rust holes welded up or filled and treated. The engine bay is last on the list. The battery tray has been removed and the last thing to do before primer is the seam welding. Not going too crazy with that, but basically along the chassis rail/wheel arch seam, strut tower seam and firewall/wheel arch seams. I was going to add some welds to the castor rod brackets but they're solid looking enough I think. Time will tell. Once again I made the 2hr drive home and realised I left my camera in the shed, so I'll chuck up the photos next week.

Here are a few shots of the engine bay with undercoat on. Had to use my iPhone for the photo in a dark shed, don't mind the quality. I am currently stripping the doors down to bare shell and getting them ready for prep. I will then hang them and get the gaps sorted.

I had a day off today so took the chance to strip my doors down ready for minor rust repairs and prep for paint

This is the first time I've stripped Datsun doors so i took my time to not break anything  who likes 70's Austin Powers door trim?

Eventually they all turned out like this...

Got around to paint stripping the grill and repainting it..

Sandblasted the pedal box, dash cradle and steering column before giving those a fresh coat of the glossy black

Next job on the list is to paint strip the door handles (yes, every bloody piece of shiny steel on this car was painted black) and finish polishing/painting the headlight surrounds. Then I'll pull out the workshop manual and have a good old time sorting out the wiring harness which is a complete mess :woohoo:

I've been out of action for a few months, you know how things are.. Doors are almost ready, just making sure everything lines up like it should. Im flipping the body on its side this weekend to get primer and stone guard on the underside.

I need to find a set of front guards with very little rust, once that happens, she's ready for paint!

Wow, so it was pretty much 2 years ago that the body was ready for paint! I could tell you my excuses but it's a long story, so I'll keep it short

I finally had the time over the last few months (being in the one place for longer than a few weeks helps) & I made sure I locked in enough time so I could spray it all up. Choosing a colour was one of the hardest and most frustrating things. I eventually settled on a Volvo colour  and am super happy with the results. It's the Volvo 'Polestar Blue' (Rebel Blue 619).

Great colour choice. Coming along nicely. You got much time to spend on it now?
