After speaking to a few FJ guys at Datsun Day, i forgot about important it is to have the correct coolant flow throughout the motor
Considering that the factory turbo is only oil cooled, having the correct plumbing is important, so as to not 'dead head' the flow. Also using the wrong ports for the heater can disrupt the flow.
I downloaded this diagram from the FJ manual, this is how i think the flow should run with a water cooled turbo and heater. I've modified the flow chart down the bottom.
Only downside is the 19mm port on the water pump inlet. it would be nice to have this feeding the turbo with a slightly lower coolant temp, but this would leave the port under cylinder 3/4 nowhere to flow back to.
I've tried to eliminate the use of tee pieces etc. If you've blanked off any ports on your system, best to use a small loop instead.
1 = port below cylinder 3/4
2 = port above left engine mount
