- Lower rear quarters can at least be replaced.
- Rust in rear boot seal would be another painful spot.
- Rust in where the bonnet hinges bolt to the chassis is a common place, usually just filled with bog.
- Rust in drivers floor pan

Take a fridge magnet to help find the panels with big amounts of bog. I looked at one recently, drove all the way down to Young NSW because the guy said the car was good.

Rear quarters were caked with bog, they hadn't even smoothed off the bog on the bottom of the panel. Sill panels were full of bog. The bog job they did where the bonnet hinge meets was laughable.

My advice, factor in some rust repairs, most things are repairable, but the price should be according to the rust factor. The rest of the cars are pretty much lego simplicity, so don't be to concerned about the small stuff as the aftermarket parts market is growing.

Well, they are all getting old so if you do find a straight car it will be $$$$$$$$$$$
Depending on your plans, fibreglass replacement panels are available but structural rust outs MUST be repaired with new metal.

I'm building another 1600 & the more I strip it back the more damage/rust I find. It's nearly a bare shell and I've got allot of rust repairs to do! I guess these days given the age of these vehicles, you will be hard pressed to find a "rust" free vehicle.

Yep you basically have to factor in the cost of a welder and teach yourself how to do rust repairs when buying one :)

Muscle car parts will have rear quarters available soon apparently, so assuming they are decent quality that will mean rear quarters, rear beaver panel, rear taillight panel, guards, sills & bonnets, front valance, and front and rear bumpers will all be catered for.

There are a few aftermarket patch panels available now, such as lower rear wheel arch section, lower front guard and sill panels.
Have a look at Rare Spares on ebay
