Hi,

I want to put my 610sss on a club permit. It has a safety letter from a club and my engineer has just given me my vass approved cert.

I have read all vicroads documentation and spoken to someone there but I'm still really confused as how to proceed.

The vicroads form has a section for streetrods which seems like the only place to acknowledge mods. When you read their guidelines it would seem any modified vehicle is considered a streetrod.

Although clearly my car is not a hot rod and the bloke i spoke to at vicroads said not to tick that box.

But I want my vass cert to go on record so if I ever switch to full reg or sell the car it won't be an issue.

I would be curious to know what other members in similar situations have done.

Cheers
Cam

I had mine vass approved but was on full reg. I then went on club permit.
Can you put it on full reg then switch it? If you cancel full reg at least you get it recorded and also a refund of what rego you didn't use

I guess i could, but i'd prefer to not have to get a rwc.

When you put your form in to vicroads did you tick the streetrod box or not?

Nope. Historic. Got told that by vic roads as didn't fall under street rod individual build criteria as per vsi or dotars definitions.

Mind you was a l series 1200 on lpg

Thanks heaps mate, that's good to know.

Has anyone out there put a newly engineered car on club plates without first registering it? If so what was your experience?

Cheers

I think most of us transferred from regular registration to club permits. Have you asked your engineer? When you say you have a safety letter from your engineer, what do you mean by that? Have you got the Club Permit forms from VicRoads?

I would ask someone at VicRoads that specialises in club permits or new registration, sounds like whoever you spoke to didn't know much. It might be as simple as filling out the Club Permit forms, getting them signed by your club rep, and taking the car with your forms and engineers certificate to VicRoads for an inspection to get signed off.

Thanks Anth.

The safety letter is from the club stating the car is safe. As well as that I have an engineers cert.

Yeah I guess I'll try ringing vicroads again, the guy I spoke to did specialise in new registrations but he was a bit of a wally.

Try again and you might get a better person, also get your hands on some Club Permit papers and have a look at them, get them signed off by your club (is your club eligible to participate in the scheme?).
