Is it possible to fit a Rb25 gearbox into my 78 200B GL (thinking realisticly on a tight budget)?
If so how much am i spending to fit it?
I was originaly thinking an S15 sr20 gearbox but i was aiming for a 5 speed so i could fit a 200B Sx 5 speed gear knob in it?
Any other suggestions for gearboxes

And this is going to be paired withthe original L series engine

I'll go one step further - if you're using an L-series engine, why not a 200B / 240K / 260Z / bluebird / etc / etc 5 speed ?

What engine do you currently have? An RB25 gearbox will fit but you'll need an L-series bell housing. Probably more effort than it's worth if you have a standard engine. Just go for a Bluebird 5-speed, or a 240K or Zed gearbox.

L series bellhousing wont fit a Rb25det box.
Unless you are talking non turbo, which the bell swap works.
From my experience gearknobs off datsun shifters wont work on a silvia etc gearbox, different thread size.

I would go a r31 pintara box with a L series bellhousing.

I was originally thinking that but with the problems I'm having with my current gearbox I was thinking of fitting something for fresh and smooth

Just the factory L20b for the current
What about an s13-s14 transmission?
Would this be less effort and cost worthy?

Way ahead of you on that part, I have a friend who's a machinist by trade who offered to extend the gear stock and re thread it to fit the Datsun gear knob

So an r31 box will fit in a L series housing no problem?

if you get the RB25DET Box, make sure you get the type with larger output shaft. There are two different types. i cant remember the measurement of the top of my head, can measure mine if you like.
