Hi guys, thought this would be as good a place as any to find someone that has recently done road trips in an old datto.
I'm relocating from Brisbane to Melbourne in 2 weeks and I've got to get my car down there.
It's a series 2 TRX bluebird with a completely standard L20B and 5 speed.
Standard manual series 2 TRX diff ratio.

I'm trying to determine whether it's cheaper to pay to have the car transported plus a plane ticket for myself, or just drive it down there.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Dave

you will do 10L/100km as an average and the fuel will be between $1.50 and $1.60 a litre.

You will need to stop once over night which should cost under $100. The trips is roughly 2000kms depending on your route you choose to take.

So $300-$360 in fuel, 2 days driving and $100 for accommodation.

The plus side is you can take sh*t with you in the car perhaps reducing your moving costs.

Thanks Tim couldn't ask for a more detailed answer.
I did the bris-melb-bris trip a couple months back in my gf's 1.5L eg civic that had been converted to efi, and it cost me about $220 each way.
I was guessing the old L20B would have been double that.
