Hi people I have an oil leak on my fj20 gearbox originally I thought it was coming from the rear but after getting underneath the car and really having a good look, it appears to be coming from the gear shifter??

The little rubber boot is torn and it is coming from there, my question is, is there a seal in there? or is the boot supposed to seal this? does anyone have a diagram (pdf) for this box? has anyone experienced this and what did you do to fix it?

Any help would be appreciated Cheers John

there is a seal in there but two problems
1-the rubber seal the same size is NLA, the only one around is shorter in length F-R
2- you need to crack the box in two to get the shaft out
3- the thing will still leak after a short time, I had mine done twice before I fitted a rb20 box onto the fJ bellhousing

Part number 32862-E9300 is for the rubber boot you said was torn, readily available from Nissan.Don't dismantle the box and replace the seal because it does not work, the shaft is also usually worn. When refitting the boot secure the bottom section with a cable tie around the flange that the rubber fits over on the shift mechanism, the top of the rubber boot also requires a cable tie on the gear shifter. The boots uaually only crack because of old age. Hope this saves you time and $$$.Bob.
