Just a little update.
I'm getting a bit more pumped to do some work on this car after meeting the NSW crew the other week. Been fiddling with some little details here and there but to keep at it. Really love the car and it has been quite trouble-free which has got me a bit lazy overall I guess.
I gained access to a massive stockpile of TB42 water pump impellers... There are about 500 that have been pulled off GQ water pumps and replaced with fabricated stainless impellers for improved cooling systems. They are inadequate for a GQ but I believe they are quite reasonable for an L-series pump. And relatively easy to machine up so that they fit too!
Was thinking of making a batch of these things and sending them out across Australia to everyone with an L6 or even L4s which I assume are the same. Comments?
Also had the doortrims off today and just retorqued the bolts that hold the rear speakers in and Loctite'd them up. Had a bit of rattling going on so that has improved that a bit. I think one of the rear doors' window frames is prone to hitting the jam and making shitty vibrations. A new door seal might sort it out but not one drop of water has ever leaked into this car so I'm not 100% sure that's the problem.
Need to get my bum into gear for this L28 swap haha. Don't really hang around with any Nissan guys so I get distracted with other cars.
