While we're on the subject of trimming, anyone know the process for repeoducing the original door trims ?

ie how do you get the pattern pressed / welded into the vinyl ?

Most cases use a steam style press or a press that uses heated tools to press the details onto the board. For one off sets, it works out to be way too expensive to be worth it

Places do it tho... cant remember of the top of my head but Ive looked into it before

Personally i think original trims are gay on anything but a complete stock resto, but i never leave anything i own stock so that doesn't suprise me. You would be better off paying for a decent set of original trims and cleaning them up. Sourcing vinyl close to original specs is very hard nowdays

Ive done sewn in lines to replicate but it doesnt look the same, I guess they would be better really cause they are hand crafted not pressed by the thousands

Not easy and very labour intensive to sew everything straight too

Some crazy stuff is possible with trim and its a good way of expressing yourself through your ride

Sorry there isnt a real simple answer

Simon
