With all the requestes I see from people wanting a "rust free" 200B bonnet or boot lid and not ever finding any, I decided to do some digging.

I have found a place in VIC that can do both.

As long as I can get 5+ people the prices are as follows:

Bonnet: $500 to $550 inc gst

Boot Lid (sedan) $250 inc gst

Boot Lid (coupe) $250 inc gst

Pretty good prices considering a company up here is QLD quoted me $2000!!!!!

All we would need is someone in Melbourne with a good sample of both bonnet and boot lid (I can supply it all for the coupe if needs be but would have to ship from QLD) for the moulds to be taken.

This would end the problem of never having replacement bonnets and bootlids for these cars and plus you'd be saving weight!!

Please reply if you think you may be interested at some stage.

It just so happens that I have an excellent example of a bootlid here, and a bonnet that just needs a couple of minor dents removed. And to top it off, I'm about an hour from Melbourne! I have a friend who definately be interested in both.

hmmm. Interesting. I have a good bonnet and boot lid. But i definetly see the advantage of a spare.

I have a good family friend who owns and runs a fibre glass shop near me. Im going to see what he would charge at mates rates.

Posted on FB and had interest too.

I'm gonna put something up in BMSC tonight as I know there are 200B rally cars going around.

I'd be intersted in both if they are of really good quality.

It seems a big expense but as i'm on my second bootlid and the bonnet will rust from the inside out no matter what i do, it could be a good thing. The weight saving up front should be pretty significant too.

Is this Alfa Fibreglass? If so, you can count on the quality of the panels being very good.

Yes it's Alfa. Bonnets and Bootlids will have the factory ribbing and steel bosses for the latches and hinges.

What time frame are people looking at? I am in no rush personally, but that doesn't mean it can't be done soon.

Is Alistair the only one with a sample? Anyone closer? If there is a little rust under the bonnet that can be addressed at Alfa. Main thing is the outside needs to be as perfect as possible, preferably in primer but painted will be ok too, it's just that there is a chance the moulding process "may" upset a painted bonnet or bootlid.

Need a SSS Coupe bootlid too. I can supply if needed but like I said, I'm in QLD.

So am I correct there are currently 3 people keen?

I'm 100% down for a bonnet and sedan boot lid. Also, Alistair has an SX chin spoiler, we could get some of those done while we're at it.

UPDATE:

Ok I have confirmed the bonnets and boot lids will have the metal bosses in place for any hinges/latches as per a normal steel bonnet. The bonnets will NOT require bonnet pins.

Also, they are currently going through their moulds looking for 200B front spoilers. They believe they have 2 types. The SX and Monza (like a SLR 5000 Torana) type. They are yet to confirm. If unable to locate, the can do the SX type spoiler (if someone supplies a sample, again I have one) for $150 inc gst provided they get 5+ people just like the bonnets and boot lids.

I also queried them on JDM style chin spoilers. I mentioned a few people are using the old Golf GTI spoilers but they are to narrow for a 200B. They can look at doing a mould for a correct fitting chin spoiler to suit the JDM look. Again, let me know on interest.
