My 230 wagon has blown its heater hose and Burson man couldn't find a replacement in a catalogue...

What the hell do I do? This is the one highlighted in red
[ img ]

I'd like to replace them all if I can get them. I put new radiator hoses on it when I serviced it a while ago and I just assumed that the heater hoses would be available too.

Does someone still make these? If not... shoot me some alternative solutions. I've been told about washing machine hoses and cutting and shutting different hoses with connectors etc. I would prefer the real deal but I'll do whatever works if I have to, at least temporarily.

Solution needs to be better than the duct tape that I've strapped around the hole lol

Heath,

As you know, my coupe is virtually identical to your car. I struggled with using an old 'second hand' hose (which i have several) or replacing it with something else, new of course.

I went to Super Cheap Auto, found on the shelf and ended up using a VB-VK heater hose. Its long enough, the right diameter and has a convenient 90 degree bend at one end.

:cheers

PS, let me know if you want one of my old ones

Nice and clean under there too Heath

If you don't need the fully molded hose just use some generic hose off the roll.

Yeah I tried that but it kinked up at the drop of a hat so no water would have passed through. The only idea I had would be if I could get some springs and slide them down inside the hose to the spots where it needs to turn a corner to stop it from kinking up.

I find it hard to believe that a roll of heater hose would not work well as heater hose?

okay well... try not to.

If regular lengths of heater hose coped fine wirh being bent around small radius' then I doubt people would make moulded hoses in the first place lol

All sorted. Ended up settling on a VN-VS? 304/5L V8 heater hose, cut short on both ends. And managed to replace virtually every coolant hose under the bonnet, bar the radiator hoses which I'd already done. I couldn't get anything to replace that few inch long tapered hose on the driver's side of the engine

I know that little reducer you're talking about......its a pain.

On the coupe, I've deleted the whole 'coolant through the intake manifold' shebang. No regrets there. Don't need it on that car.

On the 330, I kept it alive with a hose I got from somewhere so long ago I can't be sure but I think it was some guys here in Blacktown that no longer exist (Z-16). William Lightburn aka Datman in the UK may have some left. sh*t I may even have one in my shed somewhere. Other than that, you'll need to be creative. You could start by deleting that 'around the back' heater pipe 'cause where the hoses come together under plug 5 is a PITA position. Use a larger hose and get a bigger brass fitting for your manifold to match the hose size...a 5/8 incher IIRC. Check though. Its up to you really, you'll work something out.

Great work with the other hoses though mate.

:cheers

Yeah that's right, the reducer.

I'm not too worried at this stage. Once I start changing things under the bonnet, yeah certain coolant passage configurations will change too.
