Hi

I have a question best suited for the 180B SSS guys out there.

I have just purchased a 74 model which has the anchor point for the seat belt on the door jam/pillar next to where the drivers side shoulder is. I have kept the retractable seat belts out of my parts car which also have the drop down sashes which mount on the roof, I was thinking on installing these since they're much easier to get a hold of when jumping in and out of the car, but what I'm not sure of is if the earlier models have any provisions on the roof for mounting the anchor point there????

Thought I'd ask before I go ahead and pull off some of the roof lining.

Cheers!

Alex

Not sure Alex but opening up the hood lining a little isn't too hard. Pull down the pinchweld and gently peel away the hood lining where it's glued. Slip your hand in and feel for the bolt hole in the roof rail. Don't stretch the hood lining. When you're done replace it carefully- it's not hard.

I never did like the high mounted SSS seatbelts. They came up over my neck. I never liked the low mount ones either, as they tend to slip off your shoulder. My solution has always been to use 4 point harnesses.

never knew there was a low-mount option.
take a look at my build thread (the link i sent you the other day)
pretty early on i posted part numbers for new seat belts...
had to get seatbelts for a different type of car bcause nobody lists the 610 hardtop, but they are perfect.

Hi guys

Just got the car and had a look. It appears that YES they did have provisions for drop down sashes, I didn't even have to pull off the roof lining, I just had a feel and they're there.

Joel I will do a thorough read of your thread, there is a lot of info on there which will definitely be very useful indeed...

My '72 shell has seatbelt bolt holes in the roof rail, plus bolt holes in the 1/4 panel, right in the top front corner.

Its been that long since I pulled it to bits that I can't remember what seatbelts it had in it ?

EDIT: Just found this pic, it had high-mounted non-retractable belts.

Thanks to Joel aka Burubado I have ordered a set through Repco from Klippan.

Thought I'd post up the part number as they may help others in the future.

Front Inertia reel set - K1513

250mm drop links/sash - K7099

They did mention that the drop links have to be made, but should only take about a day or so since they're out of stock. I will post up some photos or even better, a how to once I get around to installing them.

In the photo I have a small box over the mechanism, I had these left over from a previous car but I think you can also purchase them from klippan.
