Hey,

when i built my engine i forgot to put the spacer on the fuel pump and snapped the pump arm.
I bought a brand new pump and all is fine BUT, wouldn't be scared to put it aside for an electric fuel pump if there is a definite advantage.
So far all i can see if the crank time would reduce due to fuel being pumped before cranking, but is there really any other advantage, esp if I'm not running a surge tank or anything.

I'm thinking not worth it till it dies (if that ever happens)

You're right. The mechanical one is fine. Electric pumps are a fair bit of mucking around to do properly and no real advantage on a carby fed street engine.

I wouldn't see y not, like i had mentioned the only advantage i could see would be on startup.

The only thing i have done is I went to sprints today to look at changing the 1/4" fuel line to 8mm from the filter to the carbs. Depending on ur pump u might have to change the inlet and outlet on the pump itself. For some reason my filter has an inlet of 8mm and outlet of 1/4" then 1/4" to the pump then out to the webers. Im just going to run an inline filter and run 8mm straight thru to the webers.

Honestly i doubt it will make much, if any, difference but just look a bit cleaner than the braided aero flow sh*t thats there at the moment.

The specs for the standard mechanical pump are that it delivers a minimum of 1.6 litres of fuel per minute whe running at 1,000 rpm. I reckon that's plenty

I've seen a 200bhp race L-Series happily running a stock Bluebird mechanical pump. Pretty sure it had no aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, either. Try it, should be fine. Then you can spend your money elsewhere.

Cheers!
