Can someone please tell me the way to remove the side indicator on the front guard of a 1600 without breaking 40-year-old plastic tabs or damaging (crap) paint?

Reach up inside guard behind indicator and feel for the plastic wing nut. Unscrew it and the lens and body should separate.

Thanks guys. Can barely get at the plastic wing nut - car too low. But when I did turn them the lense and body didn't separate. Stripped thread?

You should be able to take the wing nut off. Completely. Keep turning it until it comes out. Then gently wiggle the backing plate off.

turn the wheel for more clearance, or jack the car up
