Gday everyone.
here is some pics of my 72 1200 coupe project. When i bought the car nearly 3 years ago as a plan to get it ready to be my first car it was in pretty bad condition. It had rust in nearly every part of the car. it is now a year after i got my P plate and is now rust free, the interiour and engine bay are in the final colour, the car is fully underbodied, engine has been machined, balance and worked as much as possible. I have rebiuilt all the suspension components, started making interiour compontents and am doing the final prep work the the outter shell to get it ready for the colour to be applied. I now own a VL calais turbo and will be my daily driver, so the coupe has changed more into a street legal track day car. Here are some photos of both my cars and the coupe when i bought it and my progress so far.
cheers.

What green is that?

It's looking good, should look nice once you're finished.

Where do people keep pulling these front spoilers from? I'm not really a fan of them.

racer135, its a custom mix green in protek 2k, the spoiler come from a guy in launceston, tassie, that makes the as well as flares and fiberglass GX bonnets.
the datto has taken heaps of work so far, only have the drivers door left to cut the rust out of. I have just painted the interior in the two tone paint work, also have the wiring loom and some of the parts installed. the front suspension has been powder coated, new nolathane bushes and is fitted.
here are some pics..

That looks great! I had a 1200 coupe' recently that was pretty bad, about the same amount of rust as yours but in different places. Good to see you're fixing it up though, should be great once it is done. What do you plan on running suspension/brakes/driveline-wise?

gday 200B Pimp, for the suspension i plan to get a coil over kit from drdatto.com, these have the R31 brakes and rotors, etc. in the back i have got reset leaf springs and lowering blocks, should be lowered enough to have around 2'' of clearance between the 215 13s and the flares that i will fit shortly. i am aiming for around 130-150 mm from the sills to the ground, if not i will make some side skirts the give the car a lower apperance. As for the dive line im going to run the standard 1200 4 speed tranny and coupe diff until something breaks. the car has all nolathande bushes, etc.

gday racer135 the drag ways do look really good on the car, but the are not enough dished and to fill the flares i need negative backspacing. i will sell my old wheels soon. getting some 13x7 with 90mm back spacing superlites.

Cheers nick, the datto is slowly getting to completion, i have two weeks holiday and hope to get the exterior in primer. The vl is a genuine turbo calais, insurance is very expensive even for 3rd party fire and theft. tassie doesnt have power limits on Ps yet..
