Here's my Stanza

I built this car ground up a few years ago and had'nt really done anything with it until now. Sandown was my first run last weekend. I only got 4 very wet laps in and then unfortunately got a flat tyre. I was'nt sure whether it was the new suspension so erred on the side of safety and put it on the trailer. It turned out to be a tech screw. Grrrr
This weekend I'm off to Phillip Island. Cant wait!

1980 Stanza
fully seam welded with full roll cage
adjustable koni suspension with king springs all round
bluebird rear end, LSD 4.8
4 spot Wilwood brakes on front and VT Commodore on rear
R888 tyres
L20B engine, full race cam, ported head, twin 48 Webers, forged pistons, balanced crank, custom extractors, free flow exhaust
button clutch, SSS 5 speed

I bet that engine would go pretty hard and sound great! You're not too far from me either. Good luck at Phillip Island!

Hi neighbour

The engine did 105kw at the wheels on the dyno and does sound pretty good. I had a smile from ear to ear going down the straight at Sandown. Looks like the weather might be fine tomorrow so hopefully I can get a good feel for the car.

Will keep you posted
Cheers Chris

I plan on trying to build a 100rwkw street engine for one of my 200Bs, which will also be twin Webered and so should sound pretty tough. Your 105kw is pretty good, there may be faster cars out there but hey, if your car puts a big smile on your face then who cares!

Ps: is that a Bluebird Radiator? I will be needing to replace mine for my SR conversion and want something rather simillar to what you have on yours.

[quote="sweet_stanza"]ah so you know Charles

I do know Charles and I'm glad he was at the Island with me. He built this car for my husband as a rally car so he knows it inside out.

A few teething problems and a severe talking to from the chief steward  with threats of being black flagged put paid to my day.

We had problems with breathing and blew oil out of the sump (none went on the track thankfully) it resulted in a great smoke screen down the main straight that you could'nt see through. We had a few other little issues which we'll get sorted. Hubbies got Chas busy with his car so the stanza is back in the workshop waiting it's turn (we regularly have 2 - 3 cars in there at once and we've become part of the furniture. We'll be getting charged rent soon. I'll just keep driving my MX5 for a while until I decide whats in store for the Stanza next.

Is this a girl thing or what but I get emotionally attached to my cars and cant seem to part with them which is why I still have the MX. Maybe I can just keep rotating them each weekend. Yep hubby does say I'm expensive and would advise any of you that are looking at getting married to make sure your wife is happy to polish your windscreen and not want toys of her own. It takes away from his toy budget. I say why let you boys have all the fun

I'll check with Chas but I'm pretty sure it was a SSS Stanza radiator.
