Hi Guys,

Here is my little project car. Its a 1969 Datsun 1000 ute that I picked up for a great price.... Lets just say a carton of grog and $100!!

Well its the second ute I've owned, the first was a 1200 and I kicked myself getting rid of it. Its pretty tidy, but does need a bit of work still.

Now it has been lowered front and rear, has the A12 engine and thats about it. I plan to do something a little different with this one -> along the lines of a Yamaha bike engine... I used to have a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 project, but recently sold that and am looking forward to doing some work on my little Datto!

I knew the guy and hassled him for ages about it. It was blowing a fair bit of smoke when I went for a test drive and he thought it might need a new engine (so did I). He just wanted it gone in the end. When I got it home, I dropped the oil out of it to service it... All 8 litres of it!! So i did a basic tune and I've had it now for 4 years and its still going! Just kept basic maintenance up to it.

The body is a bit rough, a fair bit of bog in the doors. Eg: Nothing I wont have fun with!

awsome, you dont see many of these any more

like the idea of a bike engine too

yamaha 1300cc? and a sequential 6speed behind it with a live axle, hmmm aussie car competitor!!!
Just hijack one and steal its running gear

then add a GT28 turbo to the motor!

I like the idea of putting a bike engine in it! I haven't seen that done to any Datsun personally...I saw one of these once, being driven by an old guy. And it was gas. That would have been slow. How does it go with an A12?

Doesn't go too bad with the A12. Clutch has failed my once though. Its a fun car to drive. Have drifted it around a round-about once with a mate in the car + in the wet. Unintentional, but with pizza cutters on, it doesn't get much grip!
