Body fluid was definitely important at Lakeside yesterday!

Not only was I short on water, but I also discovered that some times, fuel delivery problems can be spurred on by a lack of petrol in the tank! Sitting on the main straight, opposite the control tower is not the place to contemplate such shortages.
ah crap, I thought I caught up with everyone from the forums yesterday. will make sure to say gday next time!

Looks like everyone is getting faster. I improved my PB by 1.4sec as well to a 62.16. Should really have a 61 in it considering my first 2 laps of the day were 62.2s. A cooler day would really help times I think as well.

I was a bit PO'd to find 3 other unregisted track cars with only a cage and race seat n them after being refused entry with my unregistered Datto track car... I might just turn up with it next time (if I still have it) and run anyway - its not like anyone checks. It should be 4 or 5 seconds faster than the Supra

Lakeside Sprints are also supposed to be road legal tyres only, but there were 2 cars there yesterday that I saw on full slicks. I think the only car that went faster than the Supra was the white SIV-V RX7 on the Michelin slicks 60.9. Will have to wait for the full results to know for sure

It was an interesting mix of cars.

The loosely adhered rules state "all road registered and registerable vehicles complying with Qld Transports requirements to become road registered". I really think that counts a handful of cars out, and particularly those with slicks. The nail in that coffin is "The use of road legal semi-slick tyres IS permitted." This obviously excludes slicks.

Now, my car will let rego lapse in Jan next year, but as it's blue plated, it's still technically able to run. Just not on slicks. Ah crap anyway. I don't have slicks.

But I think you refer to a handful of commodores that arrived. They would make interesting raod vehicles.

On a lighter note, glad you got a PB out there, and the results will be interesting when they are released.

There are a heap of different Dattoes in the 1.04's, quite amazing, fractions of a second separating them 8) Well done because when you look at all the times the Dattoes are right up there :D

yep, some very different ways to end up with very similar times - NA carbied L6 Zed cars, CA18DET 1200, SR20DE+T 1600. All caged except for the superior 1200 though!

I recall the little 4cyl M3 of Longhurst always doing well at Lakeside in the Groups A days of the ATCC. Good power is an advantage but the flowing nature of Lakeside means it rewards cars with good high speed handling and ability to ride those bumps under the bridge and through the kink without getting upset.

Personaly I think all these Dattos can go a bit faster yet too! :D

Someone looked up some old sprint times for Jon Siddons when he used to go there with the 240Z, his best was in the 1:03's. Maybe a bit smoother track then although tyres would be better now, either way you look at it in the 1:04's is good for old bangers :)

 Just got an email for Queensland Raceway Events accepting my Datsun for the final Lakeside Sprint! :D I can't believe how excited I am about it - I'm not going to sleep for the next 2 f*(king weeks!

but to tell the truth, I'm also a little bit scared of what its going to be like under the bridge...

now all that's left to work out is whether to run in the current 1bar/190rwkw tune or go back to the dyno to get the old 1.5bar tune re-jigged for pump gas which should be up around 230rwkw's again
