Thought I'd start a thread for my 120Y wagon.

I bought it off ebay a few months ago as a project.
Apparently it had been sitting unregistered for 7 years or so, I'm assuming outside considering how dirty it was.
Haven't done much to it so far other than give it a good clean, service it and get it started (sort of)
It had no fuel filter, Oil that was nearly thinner than water, and a carby literally full of dirt, But I still managed to get it started somehow.
The only rust seems to be in the engine bay under the battery tray, So hopefully thats not too hard to fix.
The interior is in suprisingly good condition, Besides the carpet and a crack or two in the dash.

The first thing I need to do is get the carby rebuilt (it leaks fuel, and is still half full of dirt) and then see if it runs smooth or not.
I'm not sure what condition the motor is in internally, But I'm not expecting any miracles.
Hopefully it doesn't take too much to get this on the road, It's been way too long since I've had a datto

Pic of the first day I got it, All I had done was give it a wash and gotten rid of some of the moss growing in the gutters on the roof :?

Came with a few goodies in the glovebox

As it sits now. It actually cleaned up quite well considering how it looked when it first showed up.
Still needs another polish when I have the motivation/time, only did a quick job the first time.

Engine bay at the moment. You can't see the rust under the battery but you can see the little bit on the firewall above the master cylinder.

Great start to a build. I regret not buying a 120y panel van to do my L series conversion. Dump it all round cruise and enjoy it!

I was originally looking for a panel van or 2 door wagon, But in the end this came up at the right price.
I'm sure I'll eventually go hunting for some more power, But yeah, for now I just want a nice low cruiser... With some room for a bike or 2 in the back

Went looking for a standard carb at imlachs today and came back with a center console... Go figure.

Just need to find the cloth bit that covers the gear stick. Anyone got a spare?

And on that note, Anyone in Melbourne got a working 120Y Carby laying around that they want to get rid of?

Got a new Carby over the weekend and got the car running again. Definitely runs much better.

Also sorted out the gear shift boot, with a one size fits all kit from supercheap and a little bit of MacGyvering to get it to fit.

Bought two sets of wheels today.

A set of 13x6.5 +6 hotwires, and another set of 13x5.5's.

The hotwire's look like they'll sit really nice, Just gotta get some tires and do a lot of lowering.

Got some tyres I picked up very cheaply put onto the hotwires today.
165/70/R13 , So A little bit of stretch, but not over the top.

They look good on the car, But definitely needs to be dropped!

Yep nice, now lower it. 165 65 13 much better imho. Don't found much difference but it is.

I have gone to 175 50 but lowered car heaps, but grips well now

I mostly went with 70's to try and keep the same rolling diameter, But I'm pretty sure its a bit smaller than what it should be.
Oh well.

Next thing to get done is work on the rust in the engine bay.
Started getting into a bit of it last weekend, hopefully get a bit more done this weekend.
I think I may have to get a pro in for some of it, Because I don't trust myself welding any of it up. (and don't have a welder)

You can flip the rear leaves or use blocks, easiest way to drop the front 20mm is use b110 rubber tops on the struts any more needs spring chop (illegal ) or lower springs.
