Lower cowl rust. probably a good sand blast would have done the job but it was annoying me there would have been little bits of rust still there.

Looks like you are learning panel repairs quickly
Good work!

Panel and paint is where you want to spend most of your time. Nothing worse than having to redo panel repairs when rust reappears

That's coming along nicely! have you done panel repairs before?
Did you end up with the 180c welder? I've had mine since doing my car and really, it's been one of the best tool purchases I've ever made!

I'll be following this one!

Yea lampy Giving it a go! This is the first time welding or doing any panel beating so going slow on hidden rust repairs first. but like you said RJB510 buying the lincoln 180c is the best tool ive brought. perfect for rust repairs and is very amateur friendly. i first started on the rear parcel shelf and was amazed how easy it was to butt weld sheet metal, even welding up 10mm holes is a breeze! i only grind down welds that are going to be visible being sheet metal i personally think it makes it weaker, plus trying to not grind down surrounding areas. its not going to be a show car nor have the best paint job just want to be safe to drive and have fun!

Looks great! You're doing awesome work on the panels. If you're going sr20 and in Victoria, I have a fitting kit that's pretty complete that I don't want any more, decided to stay L series. It's been in a car before. Let me know if you're interested and we'll talk.

Cheers,
Jimmy

Absolutely love seeing this kind of work. Really wish I could find the time and effort to give this a go one day myself.

Cheers boys! Yea finding the time is the hard part. Usually only get a couple hours a week, which half that time is just looking at it thinking where am i going to start.

Looks can be very deceiving no rust on the outside (so i thought) after seeing a little rust hole i started picking away with a screw driver turned out to be a massive hole.
